Twisted Liberal logic.

$250 million for ebooks is not free ebooks. Someone, somewhere, is eating the cost -- $250 million.

If publishers are 'eating the cost', then they will raise prices on regular purchases to make up for the 'free' ebooks.

Ahhh, but Liberals/Progressives/Politicians don't care. As long as they get the credit for playing Santa with other peoples' money, they proclaim victory.

The marginal cost of an ebook is near zero. Plus, the publishers get the free publicity for participating in this program. Seems like a win-win for them.
