Doesn’t his family have any say?

I see Kirk Gibson was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease the other day.

He and Jack Morris were just picked up by FOX for on air work during Tiger games.

Why is his facility “mediocre”? Surely there are fine facilities in Nashville. Are his children withholding money?

My mother was neither famous, nor wealthy, and she spent her last days in an assisted living facility that could be compared to a palace with round the clock caregivers and entertainments. There was a whole wing dedicated to the Alztheimer’s patients. Although I never was in that part of the facility, I’m sure that it was just as nice.

Bummer. My FIL had Alzheimer’s and was bedridden for a decade. Not pleasant. My MIL refused to put him in a home and waited on him hand and foot till he passed. Very hard for her and the whole family.

Im not going to try to say whats best in Glenn’s case since I don’t know it.
But often alzeimer’s patients react very positively to visiting their homes

Why don’t family care for him....then he would be home

I would think they could afford the 100g a year care like that costs

And before the nasties retort

I do take care of someone....my wife and I

Along with 3-5 kids depending

And we have before

I spent 4-6 hours an evening at my mothers as she died of Uncle Charlie

Every night but one when I had a fever

Several close friends did the daytime and I did weekends too

And we had staff and later hospice

Meanwhile we had 4 of 5 kids at home including an infant

It’s what u do

The rise of nursing homes accompanies abortion and illegitimacy

Not a coincidence

Yes....there are exceptions

The way the article reads, it sounds like Casey Kasem, Part Deux.....

For some reason I’m reminded of Bubba Ho-Tep (the movie not the FReeper).

My condolences to Mr. Campbell

We still don’t know that it was “misinformation!”

We know that the MSM want every local Police Dept under federal control, but the crap that is presently being pushed on the news has been refuted.

There was no “Wild Ride.” There was no panic stop.

Keep your courage to challenge the MSM on every speck of their propaganda releases.

I would hope he at least has access to a guitar. Oliver Sacks has recorded many times how, for some reason, loss of memory does not effect the memory of music.

So many issues here and I feel passionate about all of them.

1. If you have resources, why would you need to be in a facility? My parents both have Alzheimer’s and they are in a very safe condo with one alarmed, locked entrance, but two safe patio/porches. They have round the clock help, and while most people can’t afford it, it’s not bad. They have home cooked meals and companionship and still have the feeling of being “home” (even though it was a condo purchased for its safety and location). Their things are all around, and they know each caregiver very well. No excuse for Glen Campbell to be put in an institution unless he was really violent.

2. If you are going to be in a nursing home, this is the kind it needs to be, if you are wealthy. A must read: http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/04/a-better-nursing-home-exists/390936/

3. Haven’t we seen from Casey Kasem that keeping loved ones away from their faltering parent is abominable? And yet again we have the latest wife without the children’s best interests in mind. Everyone is happy when their elderly parents find companionship, until that parent gets dementia and that person is the wife and has more say than the children. It’s really tough.

Alzheimer's ...the long goodbye. My aunt who raised me is 90 years old and in a home in South Jersey with this horrible disease. She just says "Is that right" over and over. Her oldest daughter is almost 70 and takes care of her finances and such. Heartbreaking.

About 35 years ago I was in Campbell’s opening act for a 2 week run in Reno. He was in bad shape from alcohol and cocaine. Most of the stars and sidemen we played with were in similar condition.

I was lucky, hated cocaine and wouldn’t do it after trying it to be in with the crowd, and was never more than a 1-2 drink person.

But whether you drink, drug or not, the road will make you crazy after a while. You either get off it or bad things will happen.

Psalm 90:10

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Whatever state of mind Glen is in, I wish him the very best in his remaining time. He may have made some bad choices but haven’t we all at one time or another. He has always been one of my favorite entertainers. His music got me thru a lot of bad times. May the Good Lord bless his final days on this earth!
