Over the course of April 2829 a gigantic filament, briefly suspended above the surface* of the Sun, broke off and created an enormous snakelike eruption of plasma that extended millions of miles out into space. The event was both powerful and beautiful, another demonstration of the incredible energy and activity of our home star
and it was all captured on camera by two of our finest Sun-watching spacecraft.

Our sun is one of the smallest and most stable stars there are.
My question is how has the sun continued to create the same level of energy for the millions, if not billions, of years that it's been in existence? Why hasn't it burned out?

I thought that our sun was bigger than about 80% of the other stars. No it's a yellow dwarf. I guess it's just a bit smaller than average.
Betelgeuse in the left shoulder of Orion is 1000 times the diameter of the Sun and would almost engulf Jupiter.

If I am reading the Harvard Stellar chart right the radii of a yellow dwarf is bigger than 88.55% of other stars, orange dwarfs and red dwarfs.
