American Pharoah drew a tough post position for his running style.
His running style is like that of the late great Ruffian’s: wire to wire, pulling away at the end. Big Brown and Barbaro had similar styles. Takes a very talented horse to have that much left after leading all that way. Especially at this level.
The outside doesn't really bother me . I just didn't want to be stuck down inside. He (American Pharoah) is a fast horse. In a race like this, you just have to break well, if you don't do that it's a problem. But he's a fast horse.--trainer Bob Baffert
