Did you ever get behind the old lady driving 15 miles an hour on a local road where you cannot pass, and your trying to get your kid to his/her event on time. The car first of all looks like there is nobody even driving it, as no head can be observed. You look in the rear view and see a line of 20 cars trailing. You just pray she is going to turn sometime soon. You know she would never contemplate pulling over to let everyone else get to wherever they are going.

One time I was on my way home from work. I took my usual route. I got onto the (3 lane) freeway. The very second I got onto the freeway, I found myself, in the right lane, behind a buick that was cruising at around 30-35 mph. The freeway speed limit was 55, so naturally everyone else except for this guy were driving around 75-80 mph.

I tried to get around this slow moving buick by changing lanes into the middle lane. But there was so much traffic in the middle lane, all going at around 75 mph, that I couldnt merge into that lane. I was stuck behind that buick trailing along at 30-35 mph for a good solid 15 minutes before I FINALLY had an opening and managed to get into the middle lane.

I stepped up my speed to get alongside the slow buick to see who the hell was driving. Sure enough, it was some 80+ year old geezer wearing glasses. He was tightly gripping his steering wheel with both hands while leaning forward, clearly trying, straining to see the road ahead of him.

By the way, I have learned to hate buicks. Never driven one in my life. I dont know anything about the reliability of buicks. But I do know that for whatever reasons, buick drivers of all ages drive way too slow. Its always a buick on the roads and freeways that are driving 10-20 miles below the speed limit. I know its a safe thing to do, but it tends to create traffic jams. When I get stuck behind a buick in traffic, I just KNOW im in for a slooooow ride. What is it about buicks that makes their drivers go slower than most others?
