A woman has gotten the attention of the country for texting during the national anthem at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Not only has it been discovered that this woman works at a major news outlet, she offered up an excuse for her behavior: She was just taking notes.
The woman turns out to be a Washington Post columnist named Helena Andrews, and she writes for The Fix.
She offered up an excuse for her behavior on Twitter, and then appears to have thrown in a bit of snark that did not go unnoticed:
Her tweet drew a backlash from the majority of commenters on her Twitter timeline:

“Hosea, can you see?” at the beginning must refer to Hosea Williams, and “the home of the Braves” is obviously Atlanta, but the words in between don’t make much sense, and why are they singing about the Braves in Washington, DC?

#6 The guy in front looks to have his hands down and folded. I guess he did not have a smart phone and or works for the Washington Post.

She was just taking notes.
Helena: here are the important points:
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Or do you not know these things because Democrats have a different version of the National Anthem?

She's from America, she knows protocol. She's no more intelligent than the black nagger troglodytes that boastfully post their crime pictures to their Facebook accounts--she just forgot there are cameras EVERYWHERE at those events...

Well, I’d like to hear why he didn’t have his hand where it should have been. That’s not the act of a patriotic citizen, period. Then again, what did I expect from media celebrities? At least most of them in that picture got it right... ;)

And no comments on the white old man in front of her without his hand over his heart?
What she was disrespectful but I think he is just as disrespectful.

Every last damn bastard who voted for our clearly anti-American disaster of a president has done something far worse than text during the national anthem. Personally, I would rather see Obama supporters be honest about their contempt for this country. What do we gain by making them pretend otherwise?

I wasn't sure about him (it was possible he had his hand over his heart at a weird angle outside of the cropped photo) so I found another one. He didn't have his hand over his heart either (but at least he wasn't texting).

I remember hearing from a retired career military neighbor (USMA grad) that standing with your arm straight down at your side is also acceptable during the national anthem.

She had been tasked to comment on the lyrics? Anything else would be a weird reason to take notes.
