It appears that Star Trek Beyond may be the title of the upcoming Star Trek film, lucky number 13 in the franchise. As far as the storyline is concerned, the title suggests that the new film will venture farther out into the galaxy than we have seen in the previous two Abrams films, as co-writer Simon Pegg has been hinting at for some time now.

It looks like the producers had Simon Pegged from the start. :)

Not very excited considering how boring and uninspired the last movie was.

Were you a fan of the older “Star Trek” movies? I enjoyed both of the new generation films but I find many of the old school fans hate them.
To: EveningStar
I wonder if they got their “future Spock” scene in while they still had a chance.

Yeah, but if they did it in that order, it would be obvious where they got it from.

Wasn't Voyager all about going way way way past where other Star Trek's had gone?
Didn't that all end horribly bad?
Yes we got 7 of 9, but we also got the ultimate in Deus Ex Machina: The Tachyon Beam.
I certainly hope they don't aim Tachyon Beams at us.

After the ripoff of the last movie, why don’t they just call it Star Trek XIII, The Search for Kirk??

I'm not really a trekkie, so I have no particular interest in preserving the old school. I like Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country. The ones directed by Jonathan Frakes were truly awful. The first Abrams one I liked.

Yup. I even tried to watch it a second time, since there was so many people telling me what a great movie it was. I thought maybe I was in a bad mood the first time I saw it. Nope. Didn’t do it for me the second time either.

Into Darkness made The Final Frontier look like Citizen Kane. I hope Abrams doesn’t screw up Star Wars as bad.

It was a very popular and well liked film. It has a fairly high IMDB rating.
