in the struggle for the weapon the office was struck with the taser. The lanyard was still attached to the barb and the fleeing suspect was entangled in the lanyard. If the fleeing suspect still had the taser he could incapacitate the officer at any time. The officer shot at the suspect not knowing if the suspect still had the taser or was just caught up in the lanyard. Shooting is justified.

But anybody who runs from the police is a damn fool. Granted.
But the guy had already lost his job and everything else because he had been put in jail for being behind on his child support.
After getting out he was back working and had just bought a car. Seeing everything possibly going down the drain again if he was arrested again I could see why he would run.

That theory has been thoroughly debunked.
For one thing, no one disputes that Scott was shot with the taser, and the police reports indicate that Scott attempted to gain control over the taser just before Slager shot him. So, when, exactly, did Scott have the time (and separation from Slager) to re-load the taser?
For another thing, had Slager been shot with the taser, why did he never say so? There are plenty of audio and video recordings of Slager after the shooting, and he never once said anything about Scott shooting him with the taser. Odd, no?

That's a fine theory, except for the fact that there is precisely zero evidence that the officer was shot with the taser. But sure.

Sam Adams would have fired back at the police.

True! For the life of me, I don’t understand why he ran. It makes me suspicious that there’s a lot more to this story than what we saw.
To: MeganC
Actually, Megan, the 6 million cooperative Jews canNOT attest to that.
Also, this is the United States of America. 0bama Plus notwithstanding, we are NOTHING like Nazi Germany. So, please, govern your speech judiciously.

Germany was nothing like Nazi Germany prior to 1933. I may be young, but I am not naïve enough to take our current freedoms and liberties (what’s left of them) for granted.
As it turns out we’re always just one or two clever Executive Orders away from Obama declaring himself Chancellor.

If you’ve seen the video you know that this cop’s goose is deservedly cooked.
This isn’t Ferguson. This isn’t Sanford. This is 8 shots in the back carefully aimed fired from a safe distance.

With a little thought, you'll see that the following is even more related. To date, Scott Walker (the Governor) is the only one who has challenged them with funding cuts. Mobs of police, public school teachers and other socialists have misbehaved while protesting against him.

First frames of video show Scott on top of Slager.

“what evidence is there that Walter Scott fought with the police officer?”
First few frames of the video. Go to The Conservative Treehouse, and read the investigative reports. See all the vids, and enhanced vids. Lots of good info there.

Running from the cops is a foolish mistake, but it shouldn’t come with a death sentence, nor is the cop authorized to play judge, jury and executioner.
Proportionality is vital to any justice system worthy of the name, and it’s not reasonable to assert that a street execution is proportional to the crime of fleeing the police. Any system where the enforcers of the law are not the ones most strictly bound by it is tyrannical by definition.
This is Bill of Rights 101 material. If that man did not have the right to trial by jury before his execution at the hands of the government, you and I do not either.
To: biggredd1
Scott fled from police officer 3 times, assaulted police officer 2 times, shot police officer with taser one time. And got shot in the back 5 times.
To: SamAdams76
But anybody who runs from the police is a damn fool. Yup, most cops will turn into a German Shephard when they see someone running, even for a broken tail light.

Those were Scott's legs (see color of pants, T-shirt showing, sneakers, etc.). Slager's nowhere near that skinny.
See
comment #6 for the facts in quotes and behind links.
See
comment #30 about incompetent propaganda use of the fallacy of argumentum ad baculum (appeal to the stick, force, coercion or threat in re. arguments against running).

But anybody who runs from the police is a damn fool. And there's that case in California where the guy surrendered and was spread-eagled on the ground and the cops still beat the crap out of him. So you lose if you run and you lose if you don't run.
