This Woman Smiled after shooting a giraffe, and the Internet is Outraged

Real life Big Buck Hunter "Hero" Rebecca Francis thought she had snagged yet another trophy animal when she shot and killed a giraffe in Africa in 2010.

The 41-year-old mother of eight, who's hunted and killed everything from bears, moose and bighorn rams to zebras, lynx and antelopes, downed the beast with a bow and took a picture laying next to its carcass.

That, it seemed, was that. But she never considered what Ricky would think.

Five years later, the comedian Ricky Gervais found the picture and tweeted it to his followers, asking, "What must've happened to you in your life to make you want to kill a beautiful animal & then lie next to it smiling?"

After socially aware anti-bloodsports "comedian" Ricky Gervais twitted this he aroused the nastiest twit mob ever - all out for blood, namely that of Rebecca Francis. (Am I the only one seeing the irony here?)

Surplus to requirements. It was old , kicked out of the pack, or flock, or whatever. Alternative was letting it wander until wild dogs ate it alive. Nature red in tooth and claw, the twitters disparaging Rebecca Francis don’t know that.

Giraffes look like awkward creatures that don't look that hard to hunt. Now bagging a hippo, that's something.

I don’t care to hunt giraffe but if it helps cull the herd or pays to maintain the preserve

Then so what

I’d prefer to hunt deer or maybe ground hunt a real predator
Or a Buff

But I’m old now

White tails and ducks or dove or maybe some hogs

I’m so damn busy

If I’m not working I travel with wifey and the porch monkeys

I always mean to hunt more but fall short

Oldest boy hunts our property and beyond

Got a nice gobbler recently

All i hunt now is splittail

When she leaves sign

Animals aren’t people and if you want to see wholesale disturbing slaughter go search up videos of a chicken farm.

Hunting kills are downright “humane” (hate that word) in comparison.

If anyone has any delusions about the compassion of the progressive fringe of the human species, the vegetarians, and those who buy factory manufactured meat (where no animals were harmed in production), they should check comments to news stories re Ricky Gervais setting his friends on Rebecca Francis. They are far more disgusting than her killing one giraffe.

Dead on accurate post as usual......hunters and outdoorsmen have done tens times the better effort for the conservation management of wildlife and wildlife areas aka habitat than so called bunny hugger environazi’s .....

False sense of outrage by and in social media is self promoting at best. Twits on twitter time on line would be better served washing their cats if they were serious about making the wild life better.....:o)

Albeit I’m not a trophy hunter as we harvest wild game for food in the freezer. I don’t think pictures of “culling” any critters should be shared with idiots who have no clue of the proper wildlife management process.
