Be sure to get it checked out since acute pain can cause a change in gait, and a change in gait can make the pain a chronic condition. Mild excercise in a pool might help and this can help to decompress any pinched nerve in your lower back. Also soaking in epsom salt baths might help to relieve inflammation. Get a blood test for inflammatory mediators and you might want to start regular low dosage NSAIDS, but only if the doctor approves.
