An Infowar?

I’m just glad that I live in America, where our own beloved .gov would never dream of similar schemes.

Underlying issue: NATO is going to fall apart, due in part to incompetent American diplomacy and executive branch leadership, and due in part to the fact that our economic model of capitalism has been hollowed out, bastardized and exploited to leave a shell that China, Russia, Iran and other former good allies who have been rejected by Obummer & Co. This, coupled with misguided foreign policy, global military over-reach and state-sponsored corporatism have depleted the historic moral authority and principle-based form of government that allowed America to become great and a shining light in the first place.
Our European "allies" are seeing that their interests are no longer served by the former US-dominated model of global governance and therefore NATO's demise is inevitable; only the timing of the decline is yet to be determined. In the meantime, the ship of State is steered by fools and deviants.
Meanwhile, it continues to serve the interests of our current leaders to blame all things bad on Putin, and to step up our own government's propaganda campaign and spin.
