Morgantown, West Virginia's city council passed a law Tuesday to ban upholstered furniture outdoors, WV Public Broadcasting reports. Why? Because West Virginia University students won't stop burning couches outside.
The new law prohibits people from keeping couches in their yards or unenclosed porches. According to WV Public, violators will receive a written warning, and then fines of up to $500.

You got that right
I hope the idea of banning outdoor sofas doesn’t spread to central Virginia or the County might make me get rid of my shootin’ couch.

WVU brings this fine Hillbilly tradition to Pittsburgh whenever the backyard brawl makes the short drive up north to play the University of Pittsburgh.
I've always wondered why they don't just clear a block by banning parking and designate a street on a rotating basis for couch burning. Controlled couch burning would be a lot easier to police than some of the other crap which has replaced it.

The Big 12 lost Nebraska, Colorado, TAMU, and Mizzou. In return they got the a school who ranks low in popularity in their own city (TCU) and West Virginia. TCU and/or Baylor should not have been left out of the playoff, but I can understand why they were. The Big 12(10) is a joke.

"Over the last 10 years, weve had over 3,000 street fires because of the quick ability to bring furniture from porches and put it into the streets and put them on fire," said Morgantown City Manager Jeff Mikorski. Yes. And banning outdoor sofas will solve this problem by adding an extra 15 seconds to the process. Students will NOW have to "bring furniture from living rooms, carry it across the porch and put it into the streets and put them on fire"...
