Is evil not evil?
I have no idea of what you’re talking about. How are the two cases at all similar?
I can see the lawsuit now.
The Kroger’s manager was absolutely wrong. They breached the contract for the service - they failed to provide what was ordered.
You were nice about it. Why do you think the homofascists will be?
The only way to spread the good news is to go among those who don’t have it :)
St Paul said that Christians were to buy meat at the market and not ask questions as to where it came from.
If the butcher said “This is meat offered to idols” then they were not to buy it. They could not even go to a dinner if the host offered meat he said was “offered to idols”.
If you did, it is considered that you approve of the sacrifice to idols. Same for “Halal” meats, sacrificed to allah. Kosher is fine.
Same for a cake maker. If a sodomite buys a cake, that is fine. If a sodomite wants to buy a cake and declares it is for a homo “wedding”, it is wrong for you to sell it if it is against your conscience.
In my resturant I have the right to refuse service if you have no shoes,no shirt, no God.
I am 80 and will protect my Christian values and don’t test me.
‘
Attempts at lobbying for their reversal is what I’m talking about.
Although it is true (AFAIK) that no church has accepted money from pro-abortionists for the lobby efforts thereof.
The point is is that lobbying will be unsuccessful in both cases. And openly accepting money from the attackers of religious freedom in any case is a dangerous precedent.
I might also add the attacks on religion by Obamacare, which also will not be successfully lobbied away, in spite of waivers that make people feel comfortable under the law at present.
I think it fair that the business witholds the cost of replenishing supplies
and paying their workers, if they have any, leaving what is left, the net, to be donated.
No matter which way this is addressed the owners are likely to take a hit.
The hit, though, may very well backfire on the hitter...see Memories Pizza.
Yep
This just sounds like getting onto the road of acceptance and submission to me. A cutesy way to sidestep standing up for your religious liberty. Just seems so cowardly and un-American.
This has to be fought head-on. Is faith to be subserviant to threats of fines, bankrupcies, and jail-time? Then it sure must be a weak faith.
I think you are mistaken because when you buy from a vendor selling meat that has been sacrificed to idols you are choosing to support what they are doing with your hard-earned cash and you are essentially subsidizing the worship of other gods. When a gay person buys a wedding cake from you they are subsidizing whatever you are into, and in the case of Christians that is the Church, particularly if they donate all proceeds.
...and well the supporters of homosexual marriage may say
that giving money to supporters of traditional marriage sets a dangerous precedent.
There really is no need for them to do that then, is there? yet they try to do it. And we end up where we are today.
With the gays, it is not about money, evidently. It’s about subversion. They are not trying to buy acceptance by Christians.
Pay attention.
These establishments are being told by law they have to provide services or go to court.
Do they go to court and show up with a cheap lawyer and lose their businesses? Or do they get $500 per hr lawyers and lose their businesses?
Or do they go to their religious leaders of whom they are claiming allegiance and opting out by conscientious objection and asking how to satisfy both religious and legal obligations?
Can’t refuse business because of personal feelings. Have to claim religious objections. Official ones. That’s the law.
If someone is smart and motivated the could look into counter suit with harassment claims but I dunno. I’m Not a lawyer
Same goes for supporters of SSM. They also are not trying to buy acceptance from Christians.
when they come to complain, refund their money...
maybe you get hit with some punitive damages..
you are still in business, and did not violate any law whatsoever...
refund the price of the cake and pay 1000 dollars, or lose your business and possible jail time...
and, since the cash value is the price of the cake, this would more than likely end up in small claims court where no punitive damages are allowed..
You may fight by sitting down and saying, ‘I shall not be moved’,
or you can fight in the manner of Jiu jitsu, using your opponents attack against him.
Very difficult to do in the face of activist judges, never mind biased judges. Remember Proposition 8, nullified by a gay judge and afterwards facing no opposition from the judicial system?
Not sure what your point is.
This is not using one’s opponent’s attack against them at all. The weapon the SSM supporters are using is lawfare, not money.
