This is the "Live Thread" for the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. I will try to keep it as up to date as possible but feel free to add anything either on the Playoffs in general or your favorite team in particular. Just remember to keep it civil.
Airborne, thanks for the ping!
“Our” Pens are really best up-LeTang is a HUGE loss. I hope they play like they have nothing to lose as not much is expected of them. I’m looking to Geno as the catalyst...
#LetsGoPens!
Yes, Letang was a giant loss. In the middle of the season I noticed the Pens web site stats were really off so I started keeping my own stats. I was really tracking the Kunitz/Crosby/Perron line. What I found was that line was really good much of the time but the real determining factor in scoring (for any line) was whether Letang was on the ice. I think opposing teams saw the same thing and targeted him for heavy hits because of it.
I thought Malkin looked fairly good the last two games and not as injured as the local reporters think. IMO Kunitz/Perron is a better winger tandem than Winnick/Hornquist so I’d hope they can put up some points.
There you go, Calgary scores, I know this first game in the visitors arena is a hard one, good just to get one up. Good game here, low scoring. 1-1, about 10 minutes in regulation. Some of these matches I will have to miss. I think they said Anaheim hosting Winnipeg starts 10:30 EST tomorrow.
The Flames made a good run in 2006 to the Stanley Cup finals, only losing to the Hurricanes.... so on a limited basis, depending on who they play, I do like them.
Flames get a go ahead-goal, 2-1, 40 seconds left. Wow. The Flames have pretty much had this 3rd period in their favor other than a few attacks by the Canucks.
Did you see the US beat Meh-Hee-Co, Dos a Cero.....Again! Ha ha ha ha!
Indeed, caught some of that, Go USA!
Also, I will add on, satellite coverage of these sports events makes it hard to find channels but once I knew the US was playing tonight, I made sure to scope it out.
NCAA basketball, NHL hockey and all of the juggling with Fox Sports makes it a task sometimes to find these games. I liked it when Fox soccer had most of the football/soccer games and with ample rebroadcasts.
Blackhawks backup goalie Scott Darling had a “perfect game” in relief last night.
Coach Q starting Corey Crawford in game 2.
Let’s Go!
And they’re down 28 seconds in.
And we’re down by two. Hey that’s the most dangerous lead in hockey!
I’m rooting for CHI!
Pyrrhic victory? Pens lose by one. I don’t like Hornquist (too low skill) with Crosby but maybe a better left winger (Bennett?) would help there. I thought Comeau and Perron looked good with Malkin. If Perron can learn to play right wing more consistantly he’ll be miles better than Hornquist.
They looked good after a horrible first period. Lapierre looked to be the best Penguin on the ice. I think they will come out strong on Friday now that they know they can play with the Rangers. I feel more confident in our chances now than I did before the game.
I think the Blues have lost two straight years in the first round of the playoffs. They have put together a good team.
The first ice hockey I ever heard was listening to KMOX; I like most of the Western Teams, within reason you know.
Winterpeg keeping up with the Ducks....
Blues on the board, 3rd period, 2-1....
Ha’ Way the Blues!
Ha’ Way the Wild!
Ha’ Way the Jets!
In my opinion, though Vancouver fans acted like idiots when they rioted and I think that includes a few times, it is amazing both the Canucks and the Blues haven’t got the Silverware. They’ve been snakebit.
Canucks like the Sharks formerly, have seemed to have been in the playoffs every year and usually, very competitive.
Congrats to the RedWings, I think they won and I think the Lightning are a very good team, I saw one article predicting the Lightning to go to the final. I think that part of the bracket will square off against the winner of the Canadiens/Senators.
Good luck to Ottawa, Subban slashed and that Ottawa player has a micro-fracture they say.
Ottawa played 2 good games, so they lose again, we will see....hard luck. I got tired out of watching the first two nights like crazy, kind of got it out of my system.
NHL playoffs, NCAA March Madness, give me a lot of the same kind of entertainment.
Penguins up 3-1 as the 2nd period is coming to a close.
Well that was a welcome change! I wish Crosby had scored on the empty net for a hat trick just to troll the classless Rags fans.
Kudos to the Pens coach. I thought he worked to get the best matchups even with second change. Monday should be interesting.
On to the next game, Go Ducks!
