This is the "Live Thread" for the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. I will try to keep it as up to date as possible but feel free to add anything either on the Playoffs in general or your favorite team in particular. Just remember to keep it civil.

GAME ON!

OK, this time when I signed in they were there, it worked. I’ve restarted my puter since last filling out the brackets, which may have solved the problem.

The Wings squeaked into the playoffs and so did the Pens. The Wings will lose in 6 games and the Pens in 7 in first round, I’m sad to say. I’ve got the Bolts and the Preds in the final with the Preds hoisting THE CUP with a total of 41 goals scored. Now show us your’s, y’all.

It is ridiculous that the most important hockey of the year only begins after the snow and ice is melted everywhere except maybe Edmonton. Shorten the season, or start it earlier. Or shrink the playoff pool.

The irony is, I’m a Kings fan.

My Penguins are looking really bad bumbling, stumbling into the playoffs. Three of the top four defensemen are injured. I’m hoping for at least one win over the Rags (can we get them drunk before the games?)

Others I like (more like want)
Nashville over Chicago
Islanders over Washington
Montreal over Ottawa (but I like Ottawa too, Hamburgler!)
Anaheim over Winnepeg (Simon Depres)

Team Christmas (My Minnesota Skating W’s) have the best record in the NHL since the All-Star bBreak, but we play a team we can’t beat away from home (St. Louis).

Something tells me we are going down in six and if we do, something needs to happen to Mike Yeo that involves a pink slip.

Need to pick an Eastern Conf team to root for...hmmm...Guess it will be the Habs. Torn between my normal Western conf when the Stars aren’t in it, the Blackhaws, but really liked Winnipeg.

If we can get some D we’ll be a major force...lots of talent on the farm. Kari didn’t look good and Enroth was far better than I thought he’d be. Game last night was great and watching Jamie earn those last point was epic!

The Blackhawks have defeated the Predators at least in one playoff series in the past 5 years, I remember that, I think it might even be 2 playoff series. I’d hate to lose to the same team every few years. Maybe Nashville can get it back up; I know they were about the best team for a lot or some of the season but slumped a bit late in the year. So much is about when a team peaks.

And to think I started the season with Lehtonen on my fantasy team....

This is kind of funny, humor from up north. I don't care to be mean-spirited, this is just good natured banter.

Top Seeded Team Anaheim, Lowest Seeded Team Winnipeg, only 10 points behind number-wise. You really have to wonder about the support factor, when the Winnipeg Jets get, yes, a lot of that. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/25143005/look-jets-fans-take-to-streets-of-winnipeg-to-celebrate-playoff-berth

Here we go, get set:

TV schedule , This is important because one does have to hunt around for a few of these games being shown on National TV.

Wednesday:

Canadiens/Senators NHL Network , 7 PM EST

Islanders/Capitals USA , 7 PM EST

Predators/Blackhawks, NBCSN 8:30 PM EST (NBC Sports Network)

Canucks/Flames, USA, 10 PM EST

USA Network is channel 242 for example on Direct TV, NHL Network is 215, so one may have to hunt down these channels.

Wednesday:

Canadiens/Senators NHL Network , 7 PM EST
Canadiens win , pure Michel Therrien

Islanders/Capitals USA , 7 PM EST
4 to 1 Islanders Yeah, go Islanders

Predators/Blackhawks, NBCSN 8:30 PM EST (NBC Sports Network)
Score tied, Go Preds but the Hawks owned the second period.

Canucks/Flames, USA, 10 PM
Don’t care who wins, are both these teams underdogs?

I think most people pick Vancouver to win, I am cheering on Calgary though....the National Anthem was at least once booed in Calgary, not so sure about Vancouver. But that was probably a few idiot fans.

The Islanders yes, did very very well. Congrats to them.

I’ve a soft spot for the Senators and I usually like the Canadiens so we will see what happens.

Yes, the Predators will have their hands full this series, I wish them the best, mainly because Chicago has already 2 Stanley Cups in the past 5 years. Nothing really against the Blackhawks, if they won it all again, I think you could call them a dynasty.

In case, some people don’t get satellite, I think NBC airs 2 games on Saturday and have more hockey on Sunday. Not everyone gets all of these games.

Potentially, I think the Lightning, Tampa Bay could make a run like last year’s LA Kings did. The Lightning looks good, they have a few Russians. It seems there are not as many Russians in the league this year.

I kinda like Calary too but that was because after Vancouver lost in the Cup final and had a riot, a Calgary paper ran a column titled something like “See this is why everyone hates you!”

I’m a fan of the Blackhawks front office, they can really build a team. Saad is a local kid so we get random press stories about him here. But I agree, they have two cups, I’d rather someone else won, no to dynasty. So, go Preds! ... and I like James Neal.
