This is the "Live Thread" for the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. I will try to keep it as up to date as possible but feel free to add anything either on the Playoffs in general or your favorite team in particular. Just remember to keep it civil.
Ranger fan here but not unhappy to see the Hawks win.
I never wish ill will on anyone, but the Blackhawks did not turn it around till the old guy died. Rocky took over, and he was bound and determined to do what was necessary to win. I remember Eddie O saying you could fire off a canon in the UC, and never be in danger of hitting anyone. I remember being the unknown Blackhawk fan, wearing a bag over my head. There were MANY lean years. Go Hawks
If you are a Rangers fan, see if you can answer one question. What was Kevin Hayes thinking of, when he didn’t sign with Chicago? I think he would have been a regular, and he missed out on hoisting the Stanley Cup.
And so another NHL season comes to a close. Congrats to the Chicago Blackhawks and their fans. Three Stanleys in six years is a magnificent accomplishment!
Thanks again Airborne for your usual superb job running the thread. Too bad we losers could not have had more fun. See y’all next season.
October seems soooo far away. I don’t enjoy watching any other sports. Hockey has spoiled me.
I like car racing, tennis and Little League Baseball, otherwise I agree with you, especially about pro sports.
Ok, I admit to liking the Triple Crown and men’s gymnastics (cause my son was a gymnast for 10 years)... And occasionally football. But hockey — good hockey and my attention is GLUED.
I don’t know what Hayes was thinking but I like him ending up a Ranger. He has a bright future.
The really really dark ages from 1995 thru Dollar Bill passing at the beginning of the 2007 season. Remember going suffering through through Pulford Mike Smith Alpo Karpotsev, Mironov, Shamnov, Daisy, a non sober Theo Fleury? the AHL Wolves outdrawing an NHL team? It was so bad at one point they paid a local radio station to put the games on radio for a season (and this is Chicago Market). You could not even give tickets away. Remember in late 2005 they had a brilliant idea to give away free tickets and they still could not come close to filling the place? This was as late as 2006 regarded as the worst run professional sports franchise. I am getting whiplash from the turnaround.
Hats off to Hawks 3 in 6 years. Well done.
I worked security at the Meadowlands when the Devils were there. Doc was not only a great announcer but a genuinely nice guy. He was always cheerful and always greeted us with a smile and small talk. He never looked the other way and seemed to appreciate what we did as security people. Yogi Berra came to the games and was the same way.
Almost every broadcast in hockey has a “how Doc helped me out” story, all accounts say he’s a truly nice guy. What I love about him is his unabashed love of the game. I love when there’s fast end to end action and his voice keeps getting higher and higher and higher, and all of a sudden he blurts out “isn’t this great?!” I don’t think you’ll ever encounter anyone that loves their job more than Doc.
I’m calling it, next year The Stars will be hoisting the Cup.
63 days till forwards and defensemen report. Lol
I predict a blizzard in Denver..should be fun..
Go Blackhawks.
