We had a lousy experience last year. We had to file an amended return after the CPA’s office inadvertently e-filed our return that lacked medical and other large deductions yet, when we had asked them to file an extension. So we were told we had to manually file the amended return, which took about 6 or 7 months to get processed. Meantime, the IRS sent scary notices and twice raided our bank account for the “money we owed”, which of course was an error, we had a refund coming. I had not known you couldn’t e-file an amended return, lesson learned!
We filed by mail early in March, and the refund was in the bank just after 3 weeks.
Filed paper, and the refund was here in 30 days.
I paid my taxes last sunday, so the treasury should have plenty of money for refunds.
They sent me a bill for more!
Filed electronically through HR Block software....six days from filing until refund.

We received snail mail from the IRS stating that all was not right with our Turbo Tax return—possible fraud. Paper returns were filed four weeks ago. Waiting. Angry at Turbo Tax.
I don’t get a refund. I have to pay.
Did my taxes the first week of February. State and Federal were in my account ten and fourteen days afterward.

why is that YOU people get tax refunds and people like me just pay, pay, pay....
Most people here can do our math well enough to NEVER have to rely on the government to give us back our money...

Our clients are getting them as soon as 8 days. IRS says 8 to 21 days is the norm. Unless you have Obamacare and don’t do the true up form 8972. Then you go into the review pile.
Never, ever, ever, EVER allow witholdings to be more than what you will owe in taxes. That is YOUR MONEY. Make the government wait to get it... if you decide to file a return that is.
E-filed fed & Mass both on April 3. I think I read it takes a couple days for feds to process and “refunds are issued on Fridays”. Sure enough my bank acct (direct deposit) showed the refund came yesterday, April 10, while the Mass. one came the day before.
Filed early February, took about four weeks. State just received last week.
