It is a decision law enforcement officials have to make in a split second. Is a weapon real or fake?
Earlier this week Cleveland police officers were faced with this type of incident at Mercedes Cotner Park. With the orange tip removed, would you be able to tell a real gun from a fake?
On Tuesday night a call came in for three juveniles flashing a gun.
Weve learned the boys complied with police orders and were taken home to their parents. Possible charges for a facsimile firearm are pending.
So we are asking you, can you tell the difference? Take the quiz above to see.
Quiz at the website.
I think we could stand for more wisdom all around.
Kids, don’t goof around with something that looks like a weapon. Police can get very antsy about that.
Parents, teach your kids about this, don’t let them just blunder into what could be a fatal encounter. You might not get them any weapons but their friends could have them.
Cops, can you do something like use a bullhorn from inside a vehicle to warn kids that you don’t know whether what they have is fake or not, so drop them and let police check it out. Before the encounter gets close enough that officers get into a “we feared for our lives” situation. There seems to be too much rushing Rambo going on today.
If a cop sees someone with what appears to be a gun, or shaped like a gun, he must assume danger.
The pictures were a bit small, but I got 5/6 correct.
However, I really had to scrutinize, and probably guessed on a couple of them, and I’m pretty sure I’d shoot first and ask questions later.
I’m glad I’m not a cop :O
Just took it and like 1.5 seconds per answer got all 6 corect...
Not law enforcement here.
Dont need to know the dif, if I perceive it as real,it is.
Cops may have a higher standard but don’t think they should.
They sure slanted that... most folks wouldn’t realize the B gun is a Chiappa Rhino (Mateba clone) and looks like a movie prop.
I got 6 out of 6.
there ya go thinking again
Suck report. If Iam being robbed or assaulted none of the guns used would be laying flat on a photographic background...I would be looking down a barrel and didn’t see many views like that??
It’s so sad because when I was a kid we all had at least one gun that looked real and we played Army. I had a 1911 in olive drab with a slide action that worked, not once did the Lynwood, Ca. P.D., or any parent freak out when they saw children behaving and playing in a normal manner. Now because friggin gangs use children to do their killing for them the world has gone to hell.
If it doesn’t have an orange tip, and looks real, I’m assuming it’s real. Been robbed and shot once; that won’t happen again.
Real or fake?
Point either one at a cop and expect to die.
Dillinger broke out of jail pulling a ‘gun’ carved out of wood or soap.
Who in the hell cares if it looks real or fake. In Arizona they assume EVERYONE is Armed, and unless you are THREATENING someone with it, it shouldn’t and doesn’t warrant any attention whatsoever.
Last time I looked ALL Americans have a God Given Right to be Armed.
If you cannot tell the difference between a bunch of kids PLAYING and Real Criminals, then maybe you should not be in a position of any kind of authority EVER.
I had a starter revolver as a kid and pointed it at an alley and fired just as a cop car drove by. He just looked at me and kept on going.
“You got 6 out of 6 correct!”
Yet a citizen should not assume the same when they see a cop with a gun?
I took a few seconds longer, but I got them all correct as well. I have never touched a gun in my life, nor shot one.
