Denzel Washington is a two-time Oscar winner; however, he isn't afraid to speak out against liberal Hollywood and support his Christian faith. “I read from the Bible every day, and I read my Daily Word,” he told a reporter, adding that it was not difficult for him to grow up as the son of a preacher. “He wasn't a taskmaster, but there were certain things you couldn't do,” Washington said. “He had his own church, and it was a long Sunday, because you had to be there all day.” “Everyone I grew up with didn't have a father,” he continued. “I had a father. My father was a decent man. He was a very spiritual man and a gentleman.” Today Washington is a strong Christian, but at times, he struggled growing up. In his teens, Denzel became rebellious after attending church started to feel like a “job”. This settled in his 20s when he had a personal encounter with God that occurred in the same church Washington attends today. “The minister was preaching, ‘Just let it go,’” Washington recalled. “I said, ‘I’m going to go with it.’ And I had this tremendous physical and spiritual experience.” “It did frighten me,” he stated. “I was slobbering, crying, sweating. My cheeks blew up. I was purging. It was too intense.” Denzel’s experience led him to questions:
“It almost drove me away. I called my mother, and she said I was being filled with the Holy Spirit. “I was like, ‘Does that mean I can never have wine again?’” Ever since, Washington is a proud Christian and has even considered becoming a preacher. “A part of me still says, ‘Maybe, Denzel, you’re supposed to preach. Maybe you’re still compromising,’” he said during an interview. Washington gave some advice to staying close to God: “Put your slippers way under your bed so when you get up in the morning, you have to get on your knees to find them. And while you’re down there, start your day with prayer. Ask for wisdom. Ask for understanding,” he said. “Don’t aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference.”

I’m so glad he spoke out. Some of the roles he has played made me wonder. His movies are excellent. God Bless him. He is surrounded by evil. May his light shine brightly.
Does he vote Democrat? does he support the party of abortion? The party with the anti Christian party platform? Does he know (YES) that a vote for a Democrat is a vote to abort children, a vote for the removal of God/Christ and His Word to be removed from the classroom/Public square
Does he know (YES) that a vote for a Democrat is a vote to teach children at school that it`s a ok option for them to have a boy friend or a girl friend or even both.
I must have missed it when he stood up with Franklin Graham, Tony Perkins, Sarah Palin etc

Probably not a conservative Christian but its something.
Personally I found “The Book of Eli” to have a strangely righteous undertone to it. In the movie, Eli was carrying “the book” and clearly had some divine protection from evil. It all comes together at the end where we realize he’s blind.

He has made so many very good movies. My favorite is “The Mighty Quinn.”

Not knocking him, but the headline is a bit misleading...
He is a very talented actor...he has played very different types of roles and done all very well...
I still can't figure out if he was blind in his role in "The Book of Eli"
I could watch Denzel read the phone book. One of my alltime favorite actors.

Politics
Washington hasn’t spoken too much about his political views. Given his religiosity, one might assume he’s rather conservative regarding social issues, but that’s just conjecture. Washington was a staunch Obama supporter during the 2008 presidential campaign.7
Washington gave $30,800 to the Obama campaign that year8 and defended the president after 2010’s mid-term elections ushered in a Republican Congress, saying:
I don’t think it’s just directed at Obama, I think people are frustrated. You’ve got to blame somebody, and he’s the boss – he’s got the big target on his head. I think there’s a desire for checks and balances, so now there’s a Republican party in Congress, and a Democratic party in the Senate, and a Democratic president, I think it now forces them all to work together.9
And in a strange move, not common among Hollywood stars, Washington officially endorsed a Democratic mayoral candidate in his hometown of Mount Vernon, New York.10
He’s a staunch Democrat, but with perspective and class. During the Bush war years, Denzel wouldn’t put down the president, but rather stated his concern for the troops coming home from battle. He said:

When he publicly endorses Ted Cruz, and says he wants to turn the clock back on aborting God`s children, and stop teaching children that the homosexual lifestyle is OK, and that he from this moment on is no longer standing with the anti Christian Democrat party platform.
Being a Christian and supporting Obama??...we knew years ago about this President, and so did he. He knew about Clinton as well, every bit as bad as Obama

I guess there’s a reason why I own almost every one of his movies on DVD or Blu-Ray. I just never knew what it was.
