Nic Rak introduces us to Carl Bachhuber and his MONSTER of a bomber !!! No he doesn’t fly it in this one. But the story continues as he takes it to the air at http://youtu.be/Fe7cPLJxagY

That is so cool!
The two-stroke engines never sound right. I prefer the Moki radial engine sound.

I think it would sound great with four-stroke glow engines
but the fuel costs would be over the top. Carl sure builds
fantastic models. I got to meet him a few years ago at a
fly-in at Muncie, In. Indiana Warbirds I think, a great
modeler and a nice guy.
Mike
Love that radial sound!
do I even want to know how much that would cost?
Note the ages of these boys with the toys....
Still, I could imagine seeing tears if it crashes.
I guess that old saying applies, “If you have to ask...”
A very rough estimate...
Plans= 78.00
Wood kit= 595.00
Engines= 1860.00 (for all six)
plastic parts=160.00 (canopies, observer blisters, ect)
Engine cowls= 108.00
Radio system= hard to say, best guess around 3K
Not taking into account on-board batteries, fuel tanks,
retractable landing gear, glue, paint and other stuff that
I always leave out when my wife asks how much you got in
this one?
Also, the above numbers are for a 138” wingspan version
(1/10th scale)
All plan sets come with a sheet of templates to cut your
own parts, if you do this, the bulk wood is about half the
price of the kit.
I’d love to build one but I’d have to buy a bigger vehicle
to transport it.
Mike
Cheaper than horses.
Muy Bad!!
Any bigger and a man could fly that thing like they do with miniature trains.
Does FR have very many remote control hobby freaks among its’ members? It might be fun to start a ping list. I have a few cheap planes, boats and cars that I play around with occasionally.
