Often, you will see them at a grocery store in a fire engine. Remember that the average response time for a firefighter crew is four minutes. The only way to ensure that firefighters will respond and arrive in an average of less than 4 minutes is by using the vehicle they respond in — with all firefighters present and available. Sometimes they receive a call while shopping for food, which means they leave directly from the grocery store and have to come back later to finish their grocery shopping.

The jerk’s major bitch is that the firefighters are wasting his tax dollars because they’re shopping on the clock, after first complaining that they’re not shopping at “Wagon Wheel”.
Oddly enough, these firefighters replied that they also shop at “Wagon Wheel”, and regardless they also risk their lives while on the clock.

Why can’t they just order their food on Amazon.com and have it delivered to the firehouse by drone?
Someone needs to find out who this guy is and what he does for a living.

If one of them goes food shopping and a call comes in, the engine doesn’t have its full crew available to respond. With the small size of the fire crews, one person being gone is significant.
Then you are down one man if a call comes in.
The guys is a putz but I think a reasonable question is why they drive the truck there and why it takes more than one man to shop? Couldn’t one man just go with a list in a different vehicle.
If there was a fire or other emergency it would seem much more efficient to have the truck and all but one man (who is shopping) at the station and ready to go. The man shopping could simply be contacted and meet them.
