Chris Wallace should probably stick to grilling Republican presidential candidates.
Somehow, during a radio interview with conservative host Mike Gallagher on Friday, the Fox News Sunday host got pulled into a discussion about former American Idol star Kelly Clarksons weight. The two men were discussing Little Caesars bacon-wrapped crust pizza when Gallagher brought up fat shaming.
Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Gallagher asked Wallace. Holy cow, did she blow up.
At first, it seemed that Wallace was going to avoid joining in on this bizarre line of questioning, saying he thinks Clarkson has got a lovely voice. But then, he let this comment slip: She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.
Listen to audio below, via The Mike Gallagher Show:
Coincidentally, Clarkson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, where she spoke out about her struggles with weight issues after giving birth to her first daughter last June.
I think what hurts my feelings for people is that Ill have a meet and greet after the show and a girl whos like bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, Wow, if they think youre big I must be so fat to them, Clarkson told Ellen DeGeneres. And its like, youre just who you are. We are who we are whatever size. And it doesnt mean that were gonna be that forever.
Sometimes Im more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore, she added. And then sometimes I dont and Im like
Id rather have wine.
“Get in mah belly!”
She’s a singer, not a swimsuit model. It’s important to be healthy, whatever body type you are.
I think she’s gotten even bigger than in the picture on the right recently.
Why is it ok to mock people’s weight and make fat people feel less than? I just don’t get it. We need to be accepting of gay, of special needs, of mental illness, but we need to kick people who are overweight??
Oh for heaven’s sake. I know Kelly’s weight is of national importance but shouldn’t this be in chat?
Damn! Her butt is almost as big as Beyonce’s!
Wallace should lay off the Kool Aid...
Ah, an example of a “pear-shaped” physique/body type.
Chris Wallace is hardly anyone to call out anyone else on their looks.
Plus for liberal jackasses I thought they were beyond sniping on others’ looks. That they didn’t judge people on appearances.
Guess Chris proves the hypocrisy of the left is alive and well.
When it comes down to it, women are judged on looks. No matter what. Clarkson has more talent than most, yet this is why she's in the news.
Although I will say recently men have begun to take hits due to their weight as well, i.e. Sam Smith and Gov. Christie. We truly are a superficial society and it's stupid and childish.
The Friday repartee between Wallace and Gallagher is the most worthless half hour of radio every week. Gallagher’s turned into an RNC mouthpiece, telling Pubbies to stay away from social issues.
Something has happened in her life. Rather large event, too. Hope she’s ok.
I saw Kelly Clarkson on Wednesday night’s “American Idol” show and she looked just fine. IMHO Mike Gallagher & Chris Wallace should have discussed their small penises instead of criticizing a woman’s weight.
I know very little about her, but I do know she’s battled against a weight problem for a long time. We’ve survived Rubeneque female Opera singers, I think we can roll with her being overweight. I am glad at least she isn’t anorexic or bulemic. I’d rather have her happy with her life and overweight.
Wallace said what everyone was thinking. And I’m no Slim Body.
Hey, when you get older you get heavier. Just a fact.
I agree. And what makes it worse is us fat people kick ourselves all the time. It took me years to loose the weight, not easy, and was a strugle to stay thin untill I figured out a method that worked for me.
She did her duty. She had a kid. One of the side effects is weight gain. She’s more of a role model than any number of Karen Carpenter wannabes. A woman’s most important function is to propagate the species. Without women like her, the human race literally has no future.
