A better camera, sharper display and faster charging put Samsungs new flagship phones ahead in the smartphone race.
In this unpredictable world, its the constants in life that I can count on.
The sun rises in the East, Starbucks lattes always taste the same, and Apples iPhones are always better than Samsungs Galaxy phones.
Since the dawn of the smartphone wars, there have been basic truths about Samsungs: Theyre made of flimsy plastic, their cameras cant keep up with the iPhones, and their modified Android software is ugly and intolerably cluttered.
With the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which arrive at U.S. carriers on April 10, none of that is true anymore. I am not afraid to say it: I love Samsungs new phones, maybe even more than my own iPhone 6. Like a child who just found out that Santa isnt real, I have spent the past week questioning everything I know.
OK, maybe thats a bit dramatic for smartphones, but Im serious about how drastic the change is. Samsung has taken direct aim at Apples smartphone, this time even seeming to copy some of the iPhones design and features.

I just bought an LG G3 over the Samsung. When I worked for T-Mobile (left them about four years ago) I would say in meetings that the smart phone is at the same level of sophistication as automobiles were in the 30’s.
But with these new phones, we’ve hit the 60’s. They still have a ways to go, but they are far superior to what I replaced - A galaxy S.
I’m an amateur photographer and have never respected phone cameras, mostly because of the lens. But my G3’s optical quality gives my 4/3 camera a real run for the money. And the photo modification software built in is truly incredible.
I don’t do Apple for a variety of reasons, but their stance on Indiana sealed the deal.
Droid has regularly been far ahead of ios.
I finally cut the apple cord recently (in favor of Samsung) and have never been happier.
The sodomite in charge of Apple made the decision to switch easy for me.
Their tablet is also above and and beyond.
iPhone has met it’s match, then she goes on and on and it isn’t worth changing. sigh
All I’ve got to wonder is this, did the CEO of Samsung attack normal religious Americans in order to uplift gays, while doing business with countries that torture gays? Or did he keep his opinions to himself??? Just wondering.
No replaceable battery? This doesn’t make any sense to me. In my experience the battery is the first thing to wear out.
I’m considering the LG G3 or galaxy s5 to replace my iPhone 4s. How’s the battery life on your g3 so far? Is there anything you don’t like about it?
That's why I went with the Droid Turbo - 50% more battery and you get one free replacement for a cracked screen.
That Samsung Edge looks pretty fragile to me.
I got the S5 a few months ago when they discounted it before the S6 release. It is a great phone. Unlike the S6 it has a removable battery and is waterproof.
I can go two days on a charge and it fully charges in 90 minutes.
I think you answered your own question of why the battery isn't replaceable from a phone manufacture's position. They would rather sell a new phone than a new battery.
Expandable storage and replaceable battery are a must have for me, which is why I’m not looking at the S6. My brother has the s5 and really likes it. I’ve been researching android and I’m torn between the s5 and g3.
I love this phone like no other I’ve ever had. But I’m not a “power user” of smart phone apps. And most of the features I use are standard “android” stuff, like the google maps app that shows me traffic congestion in real time.
But the display is amazingly beautiful. Dramatically so. This matters for maps, photos, etc.
I think the battery lifespan has changed and is now longer than the lifespan of the phone itself.
Right. This author’s claim that Apple specs were always better is just backwards. Simply not true. I own a Galaxy smartphone and Apple stock.
Sorry Samsung if i wanted an icrap i would of bought one.. im holding on to my note fron now.. ...
