Amazing,at age 17 Oldfield was playing guitar with Kevin Ayers and the Whole World Band.
Someone found a reel to reel tape under his bed that contained the masterpiece "Tubular Bells" Which mike had recorded himself performing some 36 instruments himself and dubbing the whole thing together
The rest is history
