Thanks for that. Not sure I have DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver and as it is a laptop, don’t think I can upgrade.
In your Run command (Windows key and r) run dxdiag (do not choose ot if is drivers are signed) and hit System tab and you should see the version of Direct X (near bottom), and hit Display tab the WDDM driver model (right drivers column, bottom).
Note that you should not install any MS OS after Windows XP with less than 4gb ram.
I have read that W/8 was better on resources than Vista or W/7.
