In your Run command (Windows key and r) run dxdiag (do not choose ot if is drivers are signed) and hit System tab and you should see the version of Direct X (near bottom), and hit Display tab the WDDM driver model (right drivers column, bottom).
Note that you should not install any MS OS after Windows XP with less than 4gb ram.
I have read that W/8 was better on resources than Vista or W/7.
Thanks. I have Direct X 11, an Intel Celeron 900 @2.20GHz, and 2.048 G of RAM. Driver Model WDDM 1.1. I’ve debated installing the Win8 upgrade from the dead Dell. I really do miss it. The Dell had 4G of RAM.
