Hope it helps. I do run Xbuntu, the best low resource Linux distro i tried, on a old laptop dualbooting with XP.
Notehttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-files-upgrade-windows-old says “You have only 28 days to retrieve most files from the Windows.old folder, beginning from the time you install, upgrade to, refresh, or reset Windows 8.1. After that time, most of the content of Windows.old is automatically deleted. “
But its been less than a week and only 4MB is left!
