The BBC's director general Tony Hall has confirmed that Jeremy Clarkson will not have his Top Gear contract renewed, after a physical assault on one of his colleagues.

If they had to get a new Stig, how could you tell?
Sounds like the straw that broke the camels back came from the BBC not from Jeremy.
The BBC mistreated Jeremy, James and Richard for years, paying them millions less than they’re worth.
Jeremy will be much better off working for Netflix!
BBC needs privatized
You mean that you don't find the devoid of humor millennial cretins on that show to be entertaining? No accounting for taste.
Jeremy Clarkson’s gaffes
July 2008: Drink-driving
BBC bosses told Clarkson off for supping a gin and tonic while behind the wheel of a pick-up truck
November 2008: Lorry drivers
With reference to convicted killer Steve Wright, Clarkson joked on the show about how lorry drivers “murder prostitutes”
February 2009: Gordon Brown
The then prime minister was dismissed as a “one-eyed Scottish idiot” during a press conference in Australia.
October 2009: Black Muslim Lesbians
Clarkson said that the BBC was obsessed with hiring black, Muslim lesbians to counter the number of white heterosexuals in its ranks.
July 2010: Burkas and lingerie
During a Top Gear discussion on distractions while driving: Honestly, the burka doesnt work. I was in a cab in Piccadilly the other day when a woman in a full burka crossing the road in front of me tripped over the pavement, went head over heels and up it came, red g-string and stockings.
August 2010: Special needs
Clarkson referred to a Ferrari as ‘special needs’ and a ‘simpleton’ as a way of giving it a bad review.
February 2011: Mexico
Clarkson sparked a diplomatic incident, and was forced to apologise to the Mexican ambassador
January 2012: India
Viewers complained about Clarkson’s provocative remarks concerning the country’s clothing, trains, food and history.
May 2014: The ‘N’-word
Clarkson was forced into a apology after appearing to mumble the word as he sang a nursery rhyme on Top Gear.
July 2014: Slope
Ofcom said he had breached their guidelines, when he referred to an Asian person as a ‘slope’,
October 2014: Falklands
Jeremy Clarkson caused offence this time by driving through Argentina using a number plate apparently referring to the Falklands War.
Definitely not the politically correct type.
Gaffes? Sound funny to me. He and Prince Philip ought to trade a few quips.
I agree. But when I was young, I said something that really pissed off an older co-worker and he got caught by the boss trying to beat me to a pulp. (I kept blocking and laughing) The boss said "What's going on?" I said "Nothing". He was happy to not have to get involved and it made my rep as a stand up guy.
The show is dead and just doesn't know it yet and I hope the producer dude did everything he could to prevent it. It's going to hurt more people than Clarkson.
That wasn't a gaffe, that was telling the truth.
I bet Netflix isn’t concerned about auto makers being pissed off. Do they get Netflix in the UK? Call it “House of Cars”.
I have no taste. Just ask Mrs. Rktman. :>}
Good point.
Associate producer, essentially paid intern. (And the Whire House has shown how interns can be treated)
Perhaps, although their tenure in the series was already much nearer the end than the beginning. They are, after all, beginning to get on a bit.
Oh I dont doubt that there are elements in the BBC (and indeed in British society generally) who are overjoyed that Clarkson has gotten the push. That odious creep Piers Morgan is probably still dancing a jig. However, it is also true that Clarkson has fallen foul of the Beeb’s codes of behavior on several occasions (I believe he was already on “final warning”)
Ah..the Mexico incident was Hammond, not Clarkson.
Yes I’m pretty sure that this is a little incident that’s been blown up. If left alone, after a bit, when everyone had cooled down, Clarkson would probably have apologised, bought the guy a beer, and that would have been that. Thats how blokes settle disagreements. But, unfortunately, it DID get blown up. Non BBC employees witnessed it and told the press about it. And once that has happened, the BBC would have little choice but to investigate the incident officially.
How thay can be treated, yes. But not how they SHOULD be, not so?
