Utah brings back the firing squad, so how does it work?

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert gave his stamp of approval Monday to a law that brings back the firing squad in the only state that has used it in the past 40 years.

Under the law, firing squads will be a backup method if lethal injection drugs aren't available.

Utah and other states have struggled to keep up their inventories as European manufacturers opposed to capital punishment refuse to sell the components of lethal injections to U.S. prisons.

There are no American companies which supply these items??? How did that situation arise???

Abuse by Liberials to force them to stop their manufacture.

The problem is,the fake(blank)has no recoil. The live rounds do.Any shooter will be able to tell the difference.

Just what I was about to point out. The difference between firing a blank round and a live round is immediately discernible and dramatic. The only way a shooter wouldn't know the difference is if they'd never fired a rifle before at all.

I don't support capital punishment because I don't like the government having that power, but if it's to be done, this is the way to do it. It's quick. It also forces state agents to directly pull the trigger. There's no abstract about what's happening.

The last time Utah did one, there was massive attention from around the world, and reporters flooded the event.

There’s no gore. The man is strapped into a chair surrounded by black sandbags. Three .30 Cal rounds take out the heart and the man’s gone in a second. From BANG to the coroner’s van driving away with the carcass is less than 2 minutes. Game over.

All the reporters are left standing there thinking, Wow, that was slick.

Utah brings back the firing squad, so how does it work?

Very well, apparently.

How did that situation arise???

It works like this.

First, as an elected representative of our government, you take untaxed bribe money and invest in a foreign company that makes the product.

Then you stir up the media and liberals.

Then you outlaw US manufacture of that product.

Voila! You rake in the profits.

Utah uses the firing squad because they believe that a sinner must atone for his sins by shedding his own blood . . . it ia a mormon misunderstanding of the finished work of Christ.

You are correct.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/04/28/condemned-utah-killer-face-firing-squad/

Five corrections officers selected by the department to be executioners will be positioned behind a brick wall with a portal cut out.

“Five guns, four of them are loaded, one has blanks,” Gehrke told Fox 13. “And the call is made. When the whole process is ready, there is a hood placed over the condemned’s head.”

A patch with a target will be pinned to Gardner’s chest, and he will be given the chance to say his last words, as well as request a last meal prepared at the prison.

I doubt many people would know the difference in a blank and a live round while excited and nervous about shooting a human, especially for the first time. Many old muskets have been found with multiple full loads in them. The soldier didn’t know the first didn’t fire and reloaded, didn’t fire, and reloaded again, over and over.

It works the other way, too. Shoot a heavy rifle off the bench and it rocks you and pounds you. Shoot it at a charging elephant and you don’t feel a thing. A friend’s wife was shooting a 6 point bull elk with her 243 and ran dry with him wounded and staggering. I handed her my vicious lightweight .375 with 270 gr handloads. Friend looked at me, I said shh. She shot the bull and dumped him and on the way home said she wanted a rifle just like mine, it works better.

What’s with the anti-Mormon tripe? Firing squads do the job.

False

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/03/24/why-utahs-gruesome-firing-squads-might-not-be-such-a-bad-alternative/

On Monday, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert (R) signed a law that made Utah the only state to allow executions by firing squads if no lethal injection serums are available. The state’s “primary method” of executions will remain lethal injection.

I suppose someone will say that I just hate Mormons and am making the doctrine of blood atonement up . . .

http://australianhumanitiesreview.org/archive/Issue-March-1997/petch.html

further proof can be readily gathered from the interwbs if any are so inclined. Brainwashed Mormons will not bother to research it.

I don’t understand how these drugs “hurt”.

(For starters, if I had my way, each perp would die in an exact excruciating fashion that their victims died.)

But since whiney pacifist liberals don’t want to ‘hurt’ convicted child killers, why can’t we use general anesthesia, then snip their brain stem?
Liberals do it to live feeling babies all the time.
People have heart surgery every day and don’t feel a thing. Just put them under anesthesia.

I used to do that to my wife. I would hold the pistol aside... pretend I was getting it ready... then hand it to her with an empty chamber.

Even she noticed her flinching and her recoil anticipation that way.

I have mixed feelings about capital punishment. I couldn’t myself pull the trigger or push the button so I don’t want others to do it for me. I’ll soon be present when our 113 year old dog is put to sleep. I think I could if I had to be the one who gave the injection but still.
