So I saw several years of complaints that Obama was born in Kenya. Lets assume he was. His mother is an American citizen; there isn't any dispute there. And, in the minds of those who believe he was born in Kenya, that means he's not eligible to be President.
Lets move to Ted Cruz. He was born in Canada. His father wasn't a US Citizen at the time of his birth. His mother was. So if Obama being born in Kenya supposedly matters, why does Cruz being born in Canada NOT matter?
blunt answer... he is not a naturalized citizen..
being born in the US or any of it’s territories, yes...
last time i checked, canada was a foreign country..
blunt and direct
That is incorrect.
“Based on my prior observation, how does Cruzs circumstance differ from Obamas where his mother, an American citizen, gave birth to him in either Hawaii or Kenya..........for the sake of argument, lets say Kenya?”
Because the law required her to have had residency in the US for a certain period of time prior to his birth, yet, she did not.
What is the Title name of 8 U.S. Code?
Isn't it "ALIENS AND NATIONALITY"?
We don’t recognize positive versus negative laws in our legal system. It is simply you trying to sound like a lawyer, nerd.
Canada was born under the British North America Act of 1867.
As a British colony, they used the term “Natural Born Subject”
Back in the day, the words “Natural Born” before Citizen/Subject was understood.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Natural Born Citizen of Austria, then later became a USA Citizen. Arnold served a mandatory 1 year stint in the Austrian Army.
Arnold understood his Natural Born status blocked his path to POTUS.
Dopey bodybuilders understand the difference between “Natural Born Citizen”, and “Citizenship”, as extended by a Government employee
What’s your point? I don’t follow stupidity as well as you give it. The title’s name changes nothing about its content, moron.
Start with post number 8...
i like cruz..
please... pretty please..
prove me wrong
I read the Constitution as barring Obama from the office, however Congress disagreed. When Congress certified Obama’s election, they also implicitly certified his eligibility. Since Cruz has a much stronger claim to natural born citizenship than Obama, Cruz is eligible. I pray both that Cruz will win and that he will govern as an American - unlike the usurper currently in our White House.
Cruz is a natural born citizen under U.S. law because his mother was a citizen.
By your reasoning, Canada, Cuba, and the US can extend “Natural Born” status to Cruz.
A human being can only be Natural Born to one Country.
Canada has the strongest claim, followed by Cuba, then USA in third
She graduated college.
So a reasonable assumption that would have to be verified but most people graduate at 22. According to the Wiki:
Cruz’s mother was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, in a family of three quarters Irish and one quarter Italian descent. She was the first person in her family to attend college. She earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Rice University in Houston in the 1950s
Sen Cruz was born in 1970
So you aren't endowed by your Creator with "certain unalienable rights"? (that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights...)
It is simply you trying to sound like a lawyer, nerd.
I must be doing something right as is evidenced by the hash you're slinging my way in some feeble attempt to raise my ire.
Being born in a “foreign country” is not an issue.
You call me a moron yet you don't recognize the significance of the Title's name?
The titles name changes nothing about its content, moron.
Quite right, but doesn't it state to whom the laws apply to? Don't the laws in USC 8 apply to ALIENS and not Citizens?
You will get no argument from me on those points.
I have been trying to point out why team Obama is so obsessed with the location of his birth. Because if it was Kenya, he is not a NBC and in fact, is not a citizen at all unless it can be show that he later naturalized.
The "proof" that Obama was born in Canada is circumstantial. We have a University enrollment purportedly to be August 19, 1961 and we have the Statement from Ann's friend Susan Blake, that Ann came to visit her in Seattle in the later part of August, and did not know how to change a baby's diaper. Implying he was very recently born.
Other Freepers have found Flight rules for various airlines in 1961 that would have disallowed a woman with an infant from flying. (Supposedly the pressure changes would damage an infant's ear drums)
We also have the fact that Madeline Dunham and Stanly Dunham were very likely heavily racist in 1961. Coming from Kansas, they very likely would have been aghast at the thought of their daughter committing Miscegenation with a black man. (Still Illegal in Many states at the time.)
Madelyn Dunham's Co workers admitted that they didn't even know Madelyn Dunham had a grandchild until they found out he was running for the Illinois Senate. A woman who is proud of her grandchild does not refrain from telling her co-workers or even keeping a picture of him on her desk.
It has the "ring of truth" that Stanley Ann Dunham had been sent to live with her Aunt Eleanor Belle Dunham Berkebile who was living in Canada around this time, but latter lived in Blaine Washington. (Right across the border from White Rock Canada, where the only nearby Hospital was located. )
In 1961, it would have been perfectly reasonable to send a pregnant teenager (especially if pregnant by a black man) off to live with a relative until the baby came due. In fact, it would have been odd if they hadn't.
Barack Obama Sr did write that they intended to give the baby up for adoption.
The scenario of Barack Obama being born in Washington or Canada fits the available facts like a glove. It is a thoroughly plausible scenario.
I'd like to flesh out more detail, but I have to go. I have responsibilities to attend to.
Actually, a version of these requirements, though different, were around during the very first session of Congress.
Isn't a citizen of the U.S. a forever citizen regardless of whatever country they live in until they officially renounce that citizenship?
It might help your argument if you provide the official language of the law.............
