Mitt Romney made so many errors in that campaign, this was hardly the deciding issue.
The biggest error was to exclude the T.E.A. party, and the resulting NOTA vote was what took Mitt down, not any moral superiority on the part of the Current Occupant.
John McCain would have been drubbed even worse in 2008 without Sarah Palin on the ticket, and she got shuffled off in a corner for most of the campaign.
