Michael Harari, who has died aged 87, was a high-ranking intelligence officer in the Mossad and was known as the Zionist James Bond.
In 1970, Harari was appointed head of the Mossads special operations division, Caesarea, and established within it the Kidon (Spear) unit that specialised in assassinations. Yes, that’s the one I believe. It was ‘made for TV’ back in the 80’s and I watched it a couple of times. Thought it was good.
Thanks for calling this to mind. Watched it last evening on Netflx. Excellent film.
You’re quite welcome.
No polymer Berettas at that time. Different materials, but a 22, with special rounds. Not sure about semi-auto either, as these leave casings.
Weapon of choice— low powder low velocity 22 in a revolver— up close and personal back of the head. The round rolls around inside and doesn’t exit. Also, low noise— pop pop.
Just curious. What makes you wonder if there might have been polymer Berettas at the time?
I don’t. Model 70 of that era was not polymer. Wondered about their use of a semi-auto, leaving casings. Which apparently they didn’t mind— like a “signature”. Earlier, well known they used revolvers with special low velocity rounds, and which left no casings.
