I believe most if not all of those fumbles occurred in games he lost, and where he was behind and taking chances. He still had a winning record (the most important statistic) with a big playoff win over a 12-4 team.
Doesn’t matter when those fumbles happened. In the end he has barely more TDs than turnovers. And as for “his” winning record it’s a 53 man roster, and during his tenure the defense shaved 13 points a game off what they allowed. If they’d performed that way when Orton was the QB Orton would have been 4-1 and Tebow never would have started, if they’d played the Tebow portion of the season the way they started he’d have gone 2-9. The fact is that the team as whole, with a terrible QB, limped to 8-8, won a bad division, and beat a Pittsburgh team crushed by injuries (they had no starters on the defensive line at the start of the game, and suffered more injuries during) and not nearly as good as their record. Then let’s remember they proceeded to go to NE and get killed in the next round.
He’s a nice guy. Good guy. Good teammate. Terrible QB. Basically he’s the white version of Kordell Stewart, another guy with lots of dynamic presence and good to have on the field that never should have been given the starting QB job.
