Perfect time for this discovery, since they were created for Lent, and the shape comes from praying arms.

Pop it in the microwave with a wet paper towel and you can eat it.

Never mind, it’s burnt.

Just have a couple of Hefeweissbiers and call it a day.

This proves that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

“Monks are the symbol for the state capital Munich...”

Munich (München) actually derives from old German for “by the monks” due to a Benedictine monastery that was located there. Similarly, Münster comes from the word for “monastery”, because there was one located there as well.

Know what the best job I ever got fired from was?
Pretzel kiosk.
Afternoon shift. Just loved it, don’t know why, just did.
Could be the apron, who the hell knows?
Or maybe the feeling of power you get when there’s a crowd.
One hand rolls dough, ties those babies off.
The other hand maybe works the soda, refills the mustard. It’s quite a thing. Quite a thing.
I’ll tell you a secret.
If a pretzel is a quality pretzel, you don’t need salt. It’s just a fact.

About 50 years later, someone figured out these would go great with Bier, and the rest is history ....

I hear they found it under the cushion of a 260-year-old couch.

Probably tastes the same as a 10 minute old pretzel.

Big difference between dry pretzel snacks that you get here in the US, and real, fresh, bready pretzels eaten warm with mustard.

Lots of Americans don't have a clue. Don't be depressed.

Not me. I grew up in and around Philly. Some great pretzels there.

250 years old isn’t “archeology.” It’s spring cleaning.
