Bachelor Nation: 70% of Men Aged 20-34 Are Not Married
Pajamas Media ^ | 03/12/2015 | Dr. Helen Smith

I saw this headline at Newsalert from a CNS News article and went over to read it:

(CNSNews.com) – Seventy percent of American males between the ages of 20 and 34 are not married, and many live in a state of “perpetual adolescence” with ominous consequences for the nation’s future, says Janice Shaw Crouse, author of “Marriage Matters.”

“Far too many young men have failed to make a normal progression into adult roles of responsibility and self-sufficiency, roles generally associated with marriage and fatherhood,” Crouse, the former executive director of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, wrote in a recent Washington Times oped.

The high percentage of bachelors means bleak prospects for millions of young women who dream about a wedding day that may never come. “It’s very, very depressing,” Crouse told CNSNews.com.

It seems that Crouse and her crowd are watching too many Say Yes to the Dress episodes. So what matters is that women’s dreams are shattered? What about the bleak prospects for millions of men across the country who get very little legal or psychological protection from marriage? Now that’s what’s very, very depressing. Change that and maybe more men will be interested.

The legislatures and bar association dance to the tune of the women.

Sorry, but that is who is specifically responsible for the laws that are on the books.

“There are no winners in divorce when children are part of the marriage. Everyone — man, woman, child and extended family, even the neighbors, church, schoolmates and community tax base — loses something vital. Claiming that women have ruined the system is like anti-war protestors blaming the soldiers for a war. The legislatures and bar associations bear most of the blame. Virtually no individual goes into court with his or her personal divorce tragedy in order to run a test case to establish revolutionary precedents in American law. Lawyers might try to use cases for that reason; their motivation is also not likely to be “for the children” as much as it is for their own bottom line, lawyer lifestyles, summer homes at the beach and their own divorce battles.’

Well, it is probably less than that, because the government is probably demanding $5,000 to $6,000/year from them in child support.

I am not confused. You have a need to level ad hominems instead of simply making your rebuttals, indicating a troubled soul. Perhaps you feel obsessed, as you have spent endless time trying to make the thread all about your divorce.

Again, I hope in time you will feel better and realize spiritual gains from the ordeal. I have no need to split hairs with you over what goes on in Louisiana and how relieved you are that the courts are not awarding money for education, etc.

Good bye and good luck.

You poor thing. You should not project your issues onto others.

May God have mercy on you.

These people are truly adolescent still - studies show average age of adolescent behaviour in men ranges from 27 to 30! It is the age where they are still “finding themselves”. Due to lack of strong family ties and overwhelming conflicting society mores.

Heck - I bet some of them watch some of these TV shows and end up questioning their sexuality still.

But that’s okay - the State is your family now.

A lot of the reasons posted in the comments claim this is the fault of the feminists and the legal system not offering men protection in the event of divorce.

I submit the legal system is a symptom of a bigger issue for both men and women. It has to do with the loss of respect for the sacrament of marriage.

and did not the feminists and lawyers (democrats all) put in the current system of ‘no-fault’ divorce. (aka UNILATERAL divorce).

The rules do not favor a traditional marriage - man works / women stays home with the kids.

A man who tries to follow those rules will find himself paying alimony and child support when the wife moves her boyfriend or girlfriend into the house and has him evicted.

The legal system IS the cause of the lost of respect for ‘marriage’.

Our children are avoiding marriage because of the torture that the courts visited upon them and their parents.

Marriage is dead in the country.

Very well. Have a good evening.

But first, one more correction. Lets see. Lot of twists and turns in this custody battle. Apparently O.J. lost the battle in the end, but got his kids when the Browns conceded.

Kids were 8 and 5 when the mother was murdered.
“Sydney Simpson was 8 and Justin 5 in June 1994”

Grandparents had the kids for 30 months. (2.5 years)
“After their father’s arrest for the murders, they spent 30 months with Nicole’s parents, Lou and Juditha Brown, in Monarch Bay, Calif. “

O.J. loses the initial battle in Oct 1996.

O.J. won custody of his children Dec 20, 1996.

The Browns appealed.

The Browns won their appeal on Nov 11, 1998.

O.J. then lost his appeal to the Supreme Court on Feb 25, 1999. (three years later).

Browns retain custody but let kids live with O.J. five years later. (so 2001?)

O.J. still had his kids in 2003.

“The 911 caller was young, female—and sobbing. “I don’t want to be with my father,” she cried. “Can’t you do something about that? He tells me he doesn’t f——’ love me.... That’s not like an abuse thing?” The operator might have treated the Jan. 18 call as a typical domestic disturbance, but the parent in question was O.J. Simpson, and the Miami-Dade County police rushed five cruisers to the Miami-area home. Officers found Sydney Simpson, 17, distraught in her bedroom, explaining that she’d had an argument with her dad. Within minutes she had left, and O.J. stepped out to offer smiles and handshakes to the officers. “
