Still, Mr. Lane underscored the advantage Mr. Cruz has with some evangelicals. Asked about the Texas senators faith, he responded, Cruz is obviously born again and goes to First Baptist Houston.
Don’t waste your time going down this rabbit hole. You could have a guy who’s pro gun, pro life, pro family, anti gay marriage, anti gays in military, pro business, promise to repeal Obama care, etc. a charismatic proven leader, you name it. But if he’s a devout Catholic...some Freepers just won’t vote for him. Ditto if he’s a Mormon. Just let them be. You’ll never change their minds.
You bet!
Absolutely they have. Bill and Al when they were running, and Hill more recently, also when running.

Are you aware of how the left and right voters break down on Christianity?
I’m looking for someone who will lead us back to God. This country has put God on the back burner, which has resulted in the mess we are in. But I’m not going to nitpick over whether a candidate is born again or whether he is Catholic, Protestant or Jewish. Just no more Muslims please. I’ve had enough with the closet Muslim we have now.
wrong thread, Tom, for a wrong staement
You’re right. I give up.
Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Al Gore have all dropped their pretense of being Evangelical Christians after they finished with elective politics.
Carter formally and publicly withdrew from the Southern Baptist denomination.
The actual “job” of Salvation is God’s work, but the statement of whether a person is saved or not is something that affirms his own salvation, per Romans 10:9-10.
WTF ever...
Really no Catholics?
You mean like Gingrich, or Bobby Jindal, or Santorum?
And you want to compare Catholics to Mormons?
You are full of it.
Yep. So someone running for office making such a claim can be dismissed without further evidence or personal knowledge, and even then there must be an assessment based on their political behavior.
It means nothing if one is lying ... :-) ...
People can do “due diligence” to see if one is lying.
Are you kidding? There are lots of us who care.
she never says she’s born again
You may as well have posted this on DU, the anti-Christian, anti-Cruz, crowd instantly leaped on Ted Cruz being a member of America’s largest Protestant denomination.
Cruz’s denomination is also the most conservative and republican voting church denomination, yet look at all of the hostility on this thread.
Between someone who cares for his country ... versus ... someone who cares for his country and is a Christian — I’ll take the second ... :-) ...
You bet!
People lie, too ... so in addition to one’s statement, “due diligence” is required to verify the claim ... :-) ...
It IS time for a man with a truly Christian world view to be The Leader Of The Free World (if the world is anywhere near free)
We revere Ronaldus Maximus, but I bet he blushed when he read or heard that name for him
