The good news is theres less of a chance of a magnitude-6.7 earthquake hitting California in the coming years, but the bad news is that the likelihood of a magnitude-8 or large hitting in the next 30 years jumped from 4.7 percent to 7 percent.
...
The new likelihoods are due to the inclusion of possible multi-fault ruptures, where earthquakes are no longer confined to separate, individual faults, but can occasionally rupture multiple faults simultaneously, according to USGS scientist Ned Field. This is a significant advancement in terms of representing a broader range of earthquakes throughout Californias complex fault system.

California with an eight would bankrupt the nation.
Oh, we are already bankrupt.
Never mind.

An 8 would bankrupt us, but a 10 could save us a lot of money :)
I predict between now and 2020 California will have at least 10 earthquakes ranging from 4.0 to 7.
See how easy it is to make a near certain guess? Cause that’s all they’re doing.
To those of you in my birth state who remain for whatever reason (Peace be Upon You), no man knows the date of the big one’s coming or even a littler one. Just don’t ignore the dog’s unusual promptings as it may be a sign the big one is near. Of course, you wont know for sure until you get the dog out to his favorite spot.
93%= ain’t gonna happen.
And they can possibly know this with anywhere near this level of precision just HOW? These are the same quacks and charlatans telling us first about "Global Warming" and failing even the flimsiest evidence of this changed their BS to "Climate Change". I believe we used to refer to that a weather when I was a kid. The older I get the more I wonder just how stupid people can be without forgetting to breath.
The Richter scale isn't a measurement of 1-10. Here's what I heard how the Richter scale works.
The Richter scale is logarithmic, meaning that whole-number jumps indicate a tenfold increase. In this case, the increase is in wave amplitude. That is, the wave amplitude in a level 6 earthquake is 10 times greater than in a level 5 earthquake, and the amplitude increases 100 times between a level 7 earthquake and a level 9 earthquake. The amount of energy released increases 31.7 times between whole number values.
Without knowing what the measurement of the first earthquake, how can anyone predict what the second earthquake will measure?
Does anyone understand what the USGS is predicting?
An increase in the probability of a magnitude 8 earthquake from 4.7 to 7 percent is a 48% increase.

“Science” has told us for years that the San Andreas can never kick in anything higher than a high 6 magnitude....
That’d be a lot funnier if I didn’t live so close.
