Colin Powell Still Sees 'Dark Vein' of Intolerance in GOP
By Ben Bell
Speaking on the day following the 50-year anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" in Selma, Alabama, the first African-American Secretary of State Colin Powell said he still sees a "dark vein" of intolerance in the Republican Party, echoing comments that he made in 2013.
"I still see it. I still see it in the Republican Party and I still see it in other parts of our country. You don't have to be a Republican to be touched by this dark vein," Powell told ABC's George Stephanopoulos Sunday on "This Week."

I’m getting sick of these people. “So what?” is the proper response as far as I’m concerned. ‘Stick it in your ear!’
“Dark vein?”
That’s racist!
Second time I saw this posted today.
Earlier I was going to post what you posted - that he should name names, specific examples etc...
But, this seems all a bunch of hype. Dog for and against both sides and all.
Here is what he actually said according to the interview.
“I still see it in the Republican Party and I still see it in other parts of our country. You don’t have to be a Republican to be touched by this dark vein,”
He actually didn’t single out Republicans.
Still, it’s empty blather, from the MSM.
People who use racism as a tool to gain power are always going to claim to see it lurking in the shadows, and under beds.
“There’s secret, hidden racism out there...better give me more of your liberty to squash it! If you don’t agree, you’re racist!”
Thanks to Barry, Uncle Sam has AIDS (Always In Deep Sh*t).
What does Powell know about racism? If there was all this racism, how did he rise so high in the military and in politics?
I used to like him, but he’s turned into another race pimp and socialist. Or maybe he always was and I didn’t notice it.
I think America has finally gotten over their revulsion at being called “racist”.
Obama, Holder, Powell, these people have a reverse racism, which is increasingly obvious.
America is so over racism. End affirmative action. End all forms of reverse racism, and let us live as equals.
Well -Of course- there are, and he’s 100% correct. There are republicans that are an embarrassment. But they are not the animating force of the party.
Furthermore, I choose not to play his game, where repubs need to be utterly pure of all human weaknesses and shortcomings,,,,, while the democrat party is a Bacchanal cesspool of sodomy, baby murder, treason, islamist adoration, and other evils that would literally horrify the average Roman citizen. And as they merrily do so, they despise Jews, Christians, whites, and Texans.
Pure Alinski, we must be perfect, they believe in no rules and so anything they want is allowed for them.
F off Colin.
Yes I see what you are saying, but why is he mentioning Republicans first and foremost when Democrats are the intolerant and racist ones by far? I don’t see Al Sharpton waving any Republican flags.
There must be an Election coming up ,Colin Powell has crawled out from under his rock or maybe Obama is running for a third term
As a long time GOP insider I have to admit there is large segment of us who are intolerant to Powell and his kind — liberal Republicans.
It certainly is.
“...he still sees a “dark vein” of intolerance in the Republican Party, echoing comments that he made in 2013.”
I see that statement as typical of an affirmative action beneficiary.
[ Dark vein?
Thats racist! ]
Only if it lasts for more than four hours then Mr. colon should go see a doctor.
Melanin uber alles
Colon Bowel strikes again.
“There must be an Election coming up ,Colin Powell has crawled out from under his rock or maybe Obama is running for a third term”
Powell is hoping to be part of another Bush administration.
Powell is the kind of infection Rhipublicans should expect to get when they wear the blue dress every night.
He’s sucking up for a spot on the Dem ticket. To think that at one time he was almost unanimously respected and admired by conservatives. I don’t know that he’s made an intelligent public comment in the last 10 years.
