The last time Ford made a GT, it built more than 4,000 of them and sold each one for around $150,000. Judging by the premiums at which they later traded, they were evidently worth a lot more than that. But this time, the new Ford GT will be far more expensive and far more scarce.
Official performance, production and pricing figures have yet to be released, but upon the new American supercar's European debut in Geneva, Ford performance chief Dave Pericak indicated it would be priced competitively with the Lamborghini Aventador – which carries a base sticker price approaching $400,000, Car and Driver reported. Combine that with production expected to number in the hundreds, not the thousands, and you're not likely to be seeing any of these Blue Oval halo cars in your neighborhood anytime soon.
The question then becomes: will the price tag will be justified? With carbon-fiber construction and more than 600 horsepower on tap, it very well could be. And if speculators are going to drive up the actual sale prices, we don't see why Ford shouldn't get what the product is worth. But whether the world is ready for a $400,0000-Ford is another question entirely.

Looks like GT and GT prototype racing are coming back. Factory Ford, Porsche, GM, Maserati and Ferrari are building cars that will go like stink and look good while doing it.
The story doesn’t say what kind of trailer hitch it has.
I didn’t get it as part of my middle age issue. It was a promise to myself when I was younger that when I came to America, I would buy one. Just a bucket list thingy, not a penis extension stuff like other dudes.
Turbines produce much more power per pound of weight compared to reciprocating engines. The 2 General Electric engines on the plane I fly produce over 12,000 horsepower each and spin at 25,000 rpm or so. Their weight is around 1600 lbs each. Yes, its fun accelerating uphill watching the speed go through 400 knots. But I digress.
Yeah, selling my house, 1000sf workshop and 4 cars combined wouldn’t get me one Ford GT, LOL.

Im a tad past “middle age” I think,...but the thrill of really driving something of this type would I fear.. escape me at this point.

Ford sold a pile of Mustangs while winning Daytona, Sebring and LeMans in the 1960s.

Actually, maybe not.
This car would’ve “only” been about $54k back then.
The wonderful GT40 would’ve been about $1.11 MIL today.
Alot more than that is spent on old great cars. None of the new cars can match the very cream of vintage cars either on the auction block or in private sale.
You’re right, of course.
Porsche, for example, can justify a supercar because they can use it as a halo for sports cars $60k and up.
For Ford, it’s just a GT racer for bored executives at stockholders expense. What they need are a couple of high-profit $60k - $120k models.
That is the prettiest Ferrari I have ever seen and a lot of them look great.
Actually one of the best looking cars I have ever seen.
It’s low to the ground, so it would be easy to lay 1/4” sheetrock panels on the roof.
