We feed them, groom them, clothe them and otherwise shell out the big bucks to protect and pamper our pets.
The American Pet Products Associations annual report on pet industry spending says Americans spent $58 billion in 2014 on their 397 million pets, which range from freshwater fish and reptiles to cats and dogs.

These are substitute children in many households. The only problem is they aren’t going to grow up to be the next generation of Americans who will keep this country going.

I don’t clothe any of my pets, especially the fish and reptiles. Our greyhound had a coat for winter, but it came with her from the rescue agency.

The other percentage did their damage in abusing and torturing animals.

Just darn, that must have gone out of fashion eons ago.

its pure paganism to put animals at equal or higher ratings than human kind....
people don't want to hear that but its true...
our society puts nature/animals above humans....
probably explains why we have no children in great numbers...we allow a whole nation to be overrun with illegals....and why?...because we don't want to produce our own...we'd rather hide behind simple animals....

Or by elevating the animals so goes mankind. It makes more sense than global warming!

It seems like a lot of money for “pets”, but what is the number of cats and dogs in the country...Horses, goats and cattle....all are pets. Without those stats, it seems like a bogus headline...Loving a pet be it a dog cat or horse is not raising it above humans, some people have to have something to complaine about and like globull warming it doesn't mean anything
To: goat granny
Compare it to money wasted by our government. Can we say a drop in the bucket.

The cat needed the cancer surgery, and it’s my money to spend.
It really doesn’t matter what people spend their money on, as long as it goes for a (legal) good or service provided from one working person to another. It’s bad when money is transferred as part of wealth redistribution.

The Goberment spends that amount in just one day, yes indeed a drop in a bucket.
How about how much people send on useless subscriptions on news papers, magazines, or useless cable programs ?
