It actually means "lens shaped" ...

Your Favorite Search Engine will show you numerous pictures of lenticular clouds, if you ask it politely. Some are really spectacular.

"Bing" showed me this one, over Fujiyama:

That really is spectacular. I used to see lenticular clouds regularly over the mountains just east of my wife's ranch in California. But nothing like that.
