The oldest date I have seen before about the domestication of the dog was 30,000 BC. WOOF!

Miniature Dogs bred from Chihuahua`s helped Neanderthals lose control of Europe to wolve-loving rivals in Europe 40,000 years ago.

While dogs were helping prehistoric man find food, what were cats doing that was so important?

I read an interesting article that said the wolf actually domesticated the human. Weak wolves, who couldn’t compete, ‘adopted’ the human and hung out with them, getting food in return for help and companionship.

"Humans paired up with dogs as early as 40,000 BC, it is claimed, giving us such an advantage in hunting that it prompted the wipeout of our Neanderthal rivals."

From the headline, I thought this was about dogs helped Europeans defeat muslims...

Humans paired up with dogs as early as 40,000 BC, it is claimed, giving us such an advantage in hunting that it prompted the wipeout of our Neanderthal rivals.

The first premise: Dogs paired up with modern man.
The second premise: (from the article) Dogs chased prey into the kill area of modern man.
The conclusion: The dog-modern man association wiped out Neanderthals.

Missing is the logical step in the argument how this would be true. It's not in the story.
