The Inglewood City Council unanimously approved St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke’s prospective stadium at Hollywood Park on Tuesday.

The $1.86 billion, 80,000-seat, closed-roof structure, to be opened in 2018, would become the world’s most expensive stadium. Chris Meany, vice president of the Hollywood Park Land Company (HPLC), partners with the Kroenke Group, commented, “It’s just the next step, but it’s a very important step.”

What do they have to level to build that monster?

They should put a horse race track on the roof and an airstrip in the middle of it.

Wait a minute!

They can build a stadium, with a capacity of 80,000 in just under three years but, it took 11+ years to design and build the Freedom Tower?

What in the Wide World of Sports?

Oh, and what’s up with it being a closed roof system?

The weather in L.A. is pretty dang’d fair year round.

Maybe they designed it to capture bratwurst and beer farts and convert the gas into renewable energy to protect the environment?

Just guessing....

how will they pay for this? debt!

If they put this before the voters one would hope sanity would prevail but the voters elected these fools.

I was just looking at the Wikipedia list of professional sports teams in Los Angeles, I guess they will add a footbal team now, but what is sad is two of the teams listed are the Angels and the Ducks, I guess Los Angeles now extends all the way to San Diego County.

Here’s why a covered roof stadium makes sense: it would allow major events that need large indoor spaces. Imagine being able to hold the NCAA Men’s Final Four for college basketball at such a stadium—it would bring in nearly US$100 million to the local economy.

Isn’t Inglewood like, the ‘hood?

Didn’t the Lakers and Kings move out because it had gotten too rough?

The multi-billion dollar complex of Gillete Stadium and Patriot Place was built with private money. There’s no need for the taxpayers to get raped by these billionaires who employ swarms of millionaires.

By a man dumb enough to give a Super Bowl ring to Vladimir Putin. He should be banned from the NFL for that.

Inglewood has a history of bad financial decisions it seems

This one doesn't appear to be one; the 1.8 billion stadium complex is being done by private developers on private land, and will likely result in a significant boom for the city in various fees, taxes and commerce. It will also develop the old Hollywood Park race track complex, which for many cities would have cost of taxpayer dollars to do.

No one on The Inglewood City Council can count pass 20(with shoes off) so they have no idea how much $1.86 billion is

I think the Inglewood stadium would be built with all private money, not taxpayer dollars. Kroenke, the owner of the Rams, is a multi-billionare married to a woman who is richer than he is. She is a Walton. The city of Inglewood will only collect taxes. Kroenke can assume all of the risks and keep all of the profits. That is the way it should be.

Spanos and the Chargers are another story. Spanos wants hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim identify themselves as being in Los Angeles, so do the Ducks. Wouldn't call Orange County a suburb of Los Angeles myself, always thought it was a stupid idea to lump them in with LA, but hey, they do what they want to do.

Then again LA Kiss is at the same arena as the Ducks are, and I'm sure that Gene Simmons is not happy about all these stadiums opening up. Where will he distribute bobble heads?!??!

The only ‘tax subsidy’ so far for the project is a cap on the 10% ticket tax for up to 22,000 seats sold. So roughly 58,000 seats, the stadium gets to pocket the city’s tax cut.

Actually I believe the Samueli's still call their team the Anaheim Ducks Whereas Arturo Moreno started calling the Angels the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim soon after he bought the team and a lot of feel he should just move the damn team to LA if thats where he feels the money is. And I don't believe the Angels have been an L.A. team since what? 1961
