That movie he was contracted to do, lead to his death.
One of the stunts went wrong and he fractured a vert and concussion. Had a seizure on the plane ride home. Several months later he fell down the stairs at home. Died during surgery.
Very good actor, in The Searchers, and King of Kings.

>>Kelly and Doohan were both born in 1920, which makes them more than a decade older than the others.<<
And both of them defined their characters and roles for generations to come — maybe darn near forever.
God bless them and The Great Bird Of the Galaxy and his wife. Roddenberry created something greater than himself.
They might have been damn socialists but they were honest about it.

He also appeared in the movie J-Men Forever, which had a clip from a 50s serial. Nimoy played an alien in that too!

Majel Barrett (Nurse Chapel) is dead, too.
Guess she's not that major.
Jeff Hunter might have taken on the Pike Role, but his wife thought he was "too big" for TV, and convinced him to keep making movies.
Wonder if Star Trek would have the same following if Hunter was the captain instead of Shatner.
Hunter could obviously play complex characters, and showed a lot of range. Probably more than Shatner.
But would it have been as fun?

I don’t think Shatner feels he has to one-up anyone, anymore.

Anna Torv did a great job of mimicking Nimoy. And I agree she is a great specimen. Did you know she was in ‘The Pacific’?
