Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy has been rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe chest pains. After a 911 call, the legendary star was transported to UCLA Medical Center last week. No word yet on his current condition

This is what i'm thinking. A lot of people don't consider from where various concepts originate, and they don't realize they are buying into dangerous ideas. They just look at the surface of it, and if it seems good, they think it is applicable to all situations, when in fact, it can yield very bad results.
This Libertarian idea of "If it do no harm, do what you will", is another example. "Harm" is interpreted as meaning instantly and locally, and it makes no provision for dealing with "harm" that occurs at some distance in time or physical proximity.
One's foundational assumptions are important in determining how a society functions, and some ideas are very detrimental to society. Communism/Socialism is one such Idea, as Venezuela is just now figuring out.
So is excessive indulgence of hedonistic urges.
I’m not much of a Trekkie, but my late husband was and I learned a lot from him, and followed the original Star Trek actors rather faithfully, I thought, until my husband passed away, and now, I just follow when the subject comes up.
The late Igor had a copy of the “Star Trek Technical Manual” or some such. It had patterns for the uniforms, a diagram of a space station and for a working Phaser. You might be able to find one on Amazon or eBay, if you care to search. It’s a fun read.
