When I click on a thread why does it jump to the last comment or page? I want to start reading it from the beginning. It happens almost every time but once in a blue moon it stays at the beginning. I am not drinking.
Activate the ‘num lock’ key and see if it stops doing that. If you deactivate ‘num lock’ and it happens again, your ‘PgDn’ key is stuck, perhaps.
Whatever you do, don't rely on the free FR membership, because it will automatically take you to the Huffington Post.
It only happens with Free Republic. Maybe I do need to upgrade my membership.
Give you a million in stock options too, and also
I don’t seem to have that key. This is a Windows tablet with a detachable keyboard but I don’t have any problems with any other websites.
The last comment in a thread typically contains the “anchor” comment that holds the whole thread together. Remove that and you might have some problems.
As Ucansee2 mentioned it could be a stuck key but it could also be a bad mouse scroll wheel or sticky key setting too.
When’s the next blue moon?
I’m using Firefox and it doesn’t happen, but then I’m on a Mac.
Are you clicking on the page from the comment section or the article section?
If from the comments it’s going to the comment # that you click from.
Did, at one time, FR not show the total number of hits each thread received?
Yes, John had to remove that for some reason that I don’t remember offhand.
I may be wrong, but I think the thread view counter bogged something down.
He’s usually busy, so I don’t know if he will be able to lend insight into that.
Well then...
You're problem is on the Surface...
Same thing happens in Excel on Win 7. It randomly decides I should be on cell B1048576 and scrolls to the bottom.
Never had it happen on FR, though.
“Are you clicking on the page from the comment section or the article section? If from the comments its going to the comment # that you click from.”
That’s the reason!
Try using: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index?tab=articles
(It's the keyboard, honest... ;-)
It would be good to know just to find out what topics outside lurkers are interested in.
Yes.
It also did once in awhile flag a thread or two that someone wanted to resurrect.
Remember our phony insider/necrotroll?
They’d sit on a thread for a year, checking it repeatedly, then one day sign up and claim to be connected to a story.
Haven’t seen them around in awhile.
