Quite. copper. Many people can’t wear 14 kt gold because the alloy is copper-10 parts out of 24.

So he’s allergic to nickle or some other metal and found himself a cheap alloy plated ring that made his finger swell up. Oh but that wouldn’t get people to donate money, so instead it’s “demonic” and he needs an “operation”.

Soap wouldn't deal with the finger in the pưicture. Another method not recommended for actual use: When in the Nam a friend tied on the ring I wore and couldn't get it off because his finger had swollen when he pushed it on. Being a wise ass I told him to keep pulling it back and forth while I got the tool I had for that. He knew I had done jewelery work before and he started busily trying to manipulate the ring. I reached a buck knife out of my pocket and opened the blade. The ring came right off. I said, "See, it works every time." He said," naw! you weren't gonna use that knife!" I said "Well, I just did."

14 carat gold is copper the other 10. Many people can’t do the copper , especially at the ears.

And on occasion research isotopes and radioactive scrap have found their way to a metal salvage operation, and been incorporated into new items.
