Frankly, my seven year old iMac crashes frequently (iTunes, kids' websites on Safari). I have upgraded to Lion (end of the line) and it crashes less frequently, but at least as often as a typical Windows box. I have reinstalled systems, etc. Did the computer crash, or did the iTunes and Safari software crash. I have never heard of either iTunes or Safari crashing the system. That would be very hard for either to crash OS X requiring a reboot. Usually if they crash, merely reload the program.

Most of the time, reloading the program wouldn't work. Frequently, I'd lose Finder as well. I have worked on Macs since 1983 (U of Chicago). They crashed.
