Here’s a thought for you and your friend. If your friend had three dogs (of ANY breed) that each attacked someone, perhaps your friend should NOT own a dog because he doesn’t have a clue how to train a dog!
Be thankful HE did not also own a Rotti, or he might have been facing manslaughter charges for his dog KILLING someone.
Don’t blame the breed alone. Some people should just not have dogs; he is one of them! He should just stick to golfing.
Pit bulls historically were trained fighting animals so they have that propensity bred into them already, good owner or not. Very unpredictable even with training. It's in the genes.
Rottweilers were used as work animals and are very protective of family and property, which can lead to some real problems if not properly trained, as well. Many Rott owners think their dogs are too soft but they are very powerful animals and if so inclined, can do some real damage. The owners must be the "pack leader" or the dog will take charge.
Like I said, I have owed four Rottweilers over almost 4 decades and thought them the most intelligent dogs I've ever had as pets. We trained them and controlled them closely and they were great with our kids and grandkids. We never had any problems with them.
But I cannot speak for my golf friend because I have not seen him in over twenty years, but he can fend for himself. It is a free country and he can buy any dog he wants. The consequences of having pit bulls were his alone. I was not his keeper. As they say, "it's not my turn to watch him."
