Fifty Shades of Grey certainly lived up to expectations as moviegoers flocked to see the erotic film over Valentine's weekend. The unconventional romance raked in $93 million in ticket sales in the US alone - the biggest February opening ever. But the tale of billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and his sadomasochistic relationship with college graduate Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) did more than that by scoring over a quarter of a billion dollars internationally.

I keep hearing everyone talk about the S & M aspect of this movie. What I never hear anyone mention is the fact that the main character (Grey) was molested by an older woman when he was a teen. His molester introduced him to the S & M crap and he continued to see her throughout the book (although he swears he is no longer intimate with her).
Every sexual experience in the book was for HIS pleasure. The only “pleasure” his girlfriend got was pleasing him.
I’m happy to spoil it for y’all. She leaves him at the end of the book. Of course there are two additional books after this one I hear. I won’t be reading them.
That’s not true. There’s been a lot of complaints from that side on how it actually depicts an abusive relationship and perpetuates the “I’ll change him” lie that so many women tell themselves.
Well, they didn’t have to spend a lot on the wardrobe!
>>>Of course there are two additional books after this one I hear.<<<
And based on the idiot’s that spent so much on this you can expect at least one more movie next Valentine’s day.
Don’t know if it will take that long, I understand it doesn’t take all that much time to shoot a porn movie.
I haven’t heard a peep from the PIV crowd or the “all sex is rape” crowd.
They must still be inside the movie theater.
“Funny. It broke records, but from some of the comments they made, it did not meet expectations.”
Exactly, an example of wildly successful buzz and marketing to get an extremely high initial audience.
The proof will be in repeat viewing.
To me, S&M sex, bondage, “role playing”, etc., have always been weird and exactly the opposite of erotic.
Bet there’s a huge drop-off this weekend.
Which means we will see dozens of sequels, prequels and rip offs, and TV plots for the next ten years come out of Hollywood.
The jihadis are probably angry the the character isn’t named mohammed Gray. This film fits right in their world view.
Maybe one will blow up a theater because the woman didn’t burqa-up at the end.
Are they allowed to bring their toys?
I saw it and it's awful. The film as a whole is just terrible. The sex scenes were vanilla, boilerplate R-rated fare that succeeded in making BDSM look boring. Boobs and butts. Nothing we haven't seen on screen in the past 30 years.
As far as the rest of the movie goes, I've seen real pornos with better acting and screenwriting. I've seen real pornos with a better plot. Heck, I've seen real pornos where the "actors" had more on-screen chemistry than these two miscast losers.
How something that used to be standard fare on late-night Cinemax has turned into a $200+ million juggernaut is a mystery to me.
The media is as happy as a pig in $hit because now they don’t have to report on how “American Sniper” is doing.
I wonder who is going to this movie. Last night I was channel surfing and stopped on Conan O’Brien’s monologue.
He mentioned “Fifty Shades” and asked his audience how many had attended.
*Crickets* for 15 seconds, until he broke out in laughter at himself.
I gained a bit of respect for him right there.
